Guest guest
Hi Jen, They cant put you to sleep before putting in the epidural becuz they need to know they got it in the right place. They need you awake for that. As you could see, Joy had it done and said it was painful to her but mine was a non event. I had it inserted in the operating room. They just wheeled me in there, had me roll onto the table on my stomach and proceded to put it in and I have to tell you it did not hurt me at all. I felt a little pressure but no pain. After about 5 minutes it was all over, I rolled back over on my back and within a few min was out for the count. Dont let it scare you. It doesnt hurt everyone and I tell you its wonderful for pain relief. I felt no pain beyond a level 2 (on a scale of 1-10) for 4 days! Guest guest
IM such a whimp, im so scared, I think this and the hair thing are the two most terrifying things to me at this point. And I even joined and have been reading the archives of the DS Complications list... lol Its amazing I am even brave enough to go through with this... Yeah, that is why you have to keep reading the "reasons to have the surgery" posts -- it is the only counter to the fear, actually it is more like sheer terror. I was lying there having a thallium heart scan done today at USC thinking "what the hell have I gotten my self into.... This injection is radioactive, who knows what kind of scanner this is, and tomorrow, they are going to do it again but with some chemical that will make my heart race like I am in a marathon." I am by turns scared spitless, and hopeful that I won't die with complications of diabetes and high blood pressure. ( and then I come home to a ton of abusive e-mail (thanks in particular to Jill who at least is keeping her profanity off the list) . If only dieting worked. I would rather starve. Nan E.
