One of theprimarypurposes of this group is to support it's members through good times andbad. If we can't count on one another during the most difficult of times thenthatseverely diminishes the group's value. We need to be strong enough inourselves to listen to our brothers and sisters when they reach out inpain without losing ourselves in it.The other primary purpose of this group is education. New membersdeserveto hear about both positive and negative outcomes of surgery and varietyinour membership provides this balance. Deb has not only contributed herexperience, but has contributed numerous unbiased educational posts thathave been of great value to all of us. We need to continue to allow hertobenefit us, as much as we need to continue to bring what each of us hasto offer.Differences of opinion are not reason enough to shut out our members. We are a support group, and deb needs and deserves our support. She is a valuable member of this group and has given a lot to manymembershere. Deb has freely posted on numerous occasions in the past and the incident you are referring to involved her posting of her e-group 'drrenisabutcher'. There have been numerous, numerous differences of opinion in the past (the archives attest to this) and Deb has NEVER been 'moderated' or 'censored' or 'banned' for this reason. That was my point. It is not that Deb has been censored because people disagree with her (if that were the case, why didn't this happen much earlier?). The list owner decided that her post accusing Dr. Ren of being a butcher was slanderous and this has to do with legal issues. This has to do with her legal battles with Dr. Ren and I agree it is not wise to openly slander a surgeon by calling them a butcher when one is attempting to sue them for malpractice or something of that nature. Why should any of us get involved in that to any capacity? I mentioned before that I was not privy to any of these e-mails since they were totally confidential between Deb and Michele. I did not particiate in these e-mails but I CAN vouch that Deb has NOT been " bannned' from the list. If she is on 'moderated' status, it is due to her post about 'drrenisabutcher', NOT because she has any differences of opinion with anyone in the group. The group is not moderated, in fact. I am not totally clear as to what transpired between Deb and the list owner but it is not an issue of moderators ganging up on her and decided to 'silence' her. I have not seen ANY posts from DEB, moderated or unmoderated, so I do not think the reason she is not posting is because she is being moderated and her posts are not able to come through. She *may not* be posting as a protest to this, but she has not sent any posts to the list that anyone is preventing the list group from viewing. All the best, co-moderator, duodenalswitch lap DS with gallbladder removal Dr. Gagner/Dr. Quinn assisting/Mt. Sinai/NYC January 25, 2001 almost 4 months post-op and still feelin' fab!
