So how do these puppies work?

That is, clearly they work when the engine is on.

But do they/how do they work once the engine is off?

Do you have to shlep them into the hotel every night

or something to plug them in - or do they still continue

to cool and function when the

engine is off at night, etc?

I have one, and it works in the car plugged into the cigarette lighter. If you

keep it plugged in while the car is not running, it will drain the battery. For

day trips, I put a frozen ice cooler in it so I can unplug it for a short while

for stops, and food stays cold. For overnight, I bought a converter so I can

plug it into the outlet in a hotel. I do have to shlep it, so I bought a small

one. Despite this, it has been a lifesaver on road trips.
