Guest guest
If you don't have a current Virus Scanner-- AVG FREE EDITION can be loaded directly from their internet site-- and it's updated almost daily. The BASIC edition is totally free. It's Grisoft AVG FREE EDITION. Here is a site to connect and download it. http://www.grisoft.com/doc/289/lng/us/tpl/tpl01 Also, if you like using all those crazy sites for cards, games, etc-- it's essential to have a decent SPYWARE DETECTOR. tHIS IS THE ONE THAT WORKS FOR ME. http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/ MAKE SURE THAT YOU GET THE AD-AWARE SE. DO NOT USE ADWARE You will be totally amazed at how much faster your computers will operate when you get the spyware off of them. This brings me to another issue-- when you forward jokes, emails etc--that have a bunch of email addresses that the email has already been sent to-- those are PRIME for spammers and spyware. What we suggest is that you copy the text of the joke or cartoon- and send that part only. To do this, just HIGHLIGHT THE TEXT OR CARTOON, USE YOUR COPY KEY OR RIGHT CLICK ON THE MOUSE AND SELECT COPY, THEN COME TO YOUR NEW EMAIL, AND RIGHT CLICK ON THE MOUSE, SELECT PASTE-- AND THE HIGHLIGHTED TEXT WILL APPEAR ON THE NEW EMAIL! No additional addresses! Your computer will run so much faster, and you won't use as much memory as all those forwards take up because of all the "unnecessary" stuff. You'll also find that you'll cut way back on the penis enlarger spam emails. Thank you in advance, Tracie NS Co-owner/moderator
Guest guest
Tracie, if I may add a comment to your beautifully expressed message, removing those other addresses helps to increase Internet safety. There have been cases of people being cyberstalked by someone who got their name & address from one of those forwards & by referring to whoever sent it, gives the impression that they are an acquaintance. I hope that made sense. It's also a good idea to BCC messages to people who don't know each other. For example, if I'm sending something to my daughters, nieces and also to friends who don't know each other, I'll put the daughters & nieces' addresses in the To: box and everyone else in BCC. Both of these are simple to do & just help avoid overload & freaks. I guess that was more than just a comment.
