I have just joined this group, hoping to get information on this

surgery. Have had some good advice from a lady named Sandy G., but

there seems to be some kind of a problem going on with this site.

Should I get off this site for a while, or will what ever it is

straighten itself out? Just what is the problem!!!

NOOOO! Don't ask that question, you will be inundated with a thousand e-mails all of dubious merit. It will stop -- just a tempest in a tea pot. If you must know, then read the last month or so of posts for the whole history. But don't say you weren't warned.

This really is a very helpful list with a zillion lovely people who are extremely helpful and friendly. Post your DS questions and people with info will respond.

There is a recent post with a list of web sites with info on the DS -- the one at obesity help. com is very good and has a lot of info on all the surgeries and Dr's who do them -- do a search for "websites" and you will kick it up -- or if whoever posted it hasn't gone no mail for a while, they will reply.

Nah, don't sweat it. A few of us got cranky and had a little tizzy

fight, but , our moderator, made us take a timeout. We'll be

good now, I promise. (:

So, welcome to the group, and what do you need to know?

Please don't leave the list. I have been on this list for almost 2 years, and believe me, I have witnessed many feuds and disagreements. With this many different personalities and different beliefs it is only natural. However this is really bad, and all this fighting, name calling has to stop or new pre-ops are going to get scared away by this hostility.

I had the DS on 12-3-99, and I am in the 4-5 percent that it fails on. I do not call myself an expert, but I have lived with the DS for 18 months, have been reading talking, and just lending an ear for all pre-ops, and post-ops. I will continue to do this, for anyone who wants me to try to answer questions.

A lot of post ops are off of the list shortly after surgery, because they start losing and their life starts to get so hectic by all the extra things they can do, they simply don't have time to read all of the post.

I myself was never the normal DS patient, that's why I am having the revision, so I stayed so I could help people by what I am experiencing. I have been privately attacked for saying I shouldn't be sharing this as it is rare, but I don't give a hoot, this is very real, and can happen to anyone. I can see it happening to someone on the board right now, she is losing the same way I did-so slow, which has been a problem all my life. I really hope I am wrong about her, because the last 11 months have been pure hell for me and I would never want anyone to have to experience losing thinking it is permanent, only to regain so much I can't fit in my clothes. No one deserves the hurt it causes. I DO know the DS works, that is why I am going to go through the pain again to have the revision, it will be so worth it.

Please don't be afraid of posting, all this will pass. Their are some post ops on here who are very knowable, and that is what we are here for-to help each other and YOU.

..... including yours? I'm so sorry you had a rotten day and got some

crummy email, but I sincerely doubt that *any* of the emails sent

(with the exception of poison pen letters) will be of " dubious merit. "

Yes, this conflict has gotten way out of hand, but that's no reason to

assume that new members will be inundated with " emails of dubious

merit. " Stop looking for divisions where they don't exist.

And Kat.. Yeah, it BETTER blow over soon. Things have gone from bad to

worse. And things are not so good right now.. but stick it out- read

the posts on the web (the " no-mail " option) & just skip the posts

about the conflict. You will learn a great deal here, & most of the

time, this is a very supportive group.

Welcome-

Hugs,

Liane

Dear Patti,

I am a pre-op and would like to know a little more

about your story. If you wouldn't mind telling me and

if you'd feel more comfortable e-mailing me in private

that would be fine with me.

My address is: angelquilt1@...

Thanks, Angel
