Week-By-Week Walking Plan

Starting a walking program is as easy as 1, 2, 3. All you need are

comfy shoes, a watch and this 24-week schedule from the Avon Walking club.

1) Do each weeks walk 3 times a week.

2) Increase to 4 or 5 times a week when ready.

3) If it feels too easy, pick up the pace.

Week 1: Walk 10 minutes.

Week 2: Walk 10 minutes, rest 3 minutes, walk 3 minutes.

Week 3: Walk 10 minutes, rest 3 minutes, walk 5 minutes.

Week 4: Walk 10 minutes, rest 3 minutes, walk 5 minutes, rest 1

minute, walk 4 minutes.

Week 5: Walk 10 minutes, rest 4 minutes, walk 6 minutes, rest 4

minutes, walk 6 minutes.

Week 6: Walk 10 minutes, rest 4 minutes, walk 7 minutes, rest 4

minutes, walk 7 minutes.

Week 7: Walk 10 minutes, rest 4 minutes, walk 8 minutes, rest 4

minutes, walk 8 minutes.

Week 8: Walk 10 minutes, rest 3 minutes, walk 5 minutes. Rest 1

minute, then repeat.

Week 9: Walk 10 minutes, rest 1 minute, walk 5 minutes. Rest 1 minute,

then repeat.

Week 10: Walk 10 minutes, rest 1 minute, walk 7 minutes. Rest 1

minute, then repeat.

Week 11: Walk 10 minutes, rest 1 minute, walk 10 minutes. Rest 1

minute, then repeat.

Week 12: Walk 20 minutes each session.

Week 13: Walk 25 minutes each session.

Week 14: Walk 30 minutes each session.

Week 15: Walk 35 minutes each session.

Week 16: Walk 30 minutes each session for 3 days, Walk 40 minutes on a

4th day.

Week 17: Walk 30 minutes each session for 3 days. Walk 45 minutes on a

4th day.

Week 18: Walk 35 minutes each session for 3 days. Walk 45 minutes on a

4th day.

Week 19: Walk 35 minutes each session for 3 days. Walk 50 minutes on a

4th day.

Week 20: Walk 40 minutes each session for 3 days. Walk 50 minutes on a

4th day.

Week 21: Walk 40 minutes each session for 3 days. Walk 55 minutes on a

4th day.

Week 22: Walk 45 minutes each session for 3 days. Walk 55 minutes on a

4th day.

Week 23: Week 23: Walk 45 minutes each session for 3 days. Walk 60

minutes on a 4th day.

Week 24: Week 24: Walk 50 minutes each session for 3 days. Walk 60

minutes on a 4th day.
