Guest guest
Have you given your child anything for the infringement? Like Alka Seltzer Gold or Pepcid AC tablets? I give Evan this plus Colostrum Gold from Kirkman's. I need to order some EnZmAid but when I had that, I would use it also. Maybe it is overkill but I am prone to that I guess. I pray that he will soon be better. Have you read Karyn Seroussi's book, 'Unraveling the Mystery of Autism and Pervasive Developmental Disorder'? I think it is very helpful. Guest guest
Rosie, My heart goes out to you. I can very much relate to your frustration and how upset you are. goes through times when all he wants to do is tantrum and bite people. Talk about the pits. I call these times " down cycles. " Praise God they always pass. I will be praying for you and today. I know that times like this can make you want to either pull your hair out or sit on the floor and bawl. I've been there so many times in the past 3 years it's not even funny. I was having such a day last Sunday when I went to church. I sat in church and cried for almost 2 hours. We were having an Easter Muscial about how God is with us even though we go through some very hard times. At the end they told the story of a Man who has 4 children the eldest was 9. They were in an Automobile accident and the 9 year old was killed. The other 3 were seriously injured, but survived. Out of that experience the man wrote these words and put them to music: God will make a way when there seems to be no way He works in ways we cannot see He will make a way for me He will be my guide draw me closer to his side He works in ways we cannot see He will make a way for you and me. I was able to draw such strength from the musical, then the icing on the cake was when a Mom and Dad stood up and brought their son to the front to tell their story. Their son was born without most of his brain and they were told that if he lived he would never see, hear, walk or talk. The child has truly struggled for his life, but he improves every day. Last week it was confirmed that the child can see. The point that the parents made was that while it has been a horrible experience, God has truly given them the strength to go on. And they daily see their child responding in ways that the Dr.s told them he never would. On a more practical note, have you tried digestive enzymes? I've found that if we keep some of these on hand and give them immediately following and infringement, that the reaction is so much less severe. I have even given a bottle to the school and told them to please let me know if accidentally gets food he's not supposed to have. This helps the teachers when they know that if they have a goof up there's something that they can do. But, we haven't had any infractions at school this year so far. God Bless, I'll pray for you and today. Leigh ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! Juno offers FREE or PREMIUM Internet access for less! Guest guest
Rosie - We've been there too. Just so you can take a positive thing out of this experience, this means that all your hard work regarding the diet is worth while! It is confirmation that you are doing the right thing. Our pattern for length of time with a dietary infringement seems to be about 3 weeks. The first week he is spacey and out of it with a loss of language and eye contact, the next week is the worst with tantruming, night terrors, all sorts of non-compliance. Then the next week he gradually " comes back " and we usually end up seeing him catch a cold or get some sort of unexplained fever and runny nose - then we know we are at the last stage of the detox. So..... as Bette said in All About Eve " Fasten you seatbelts, it's going to be a bumpy night (or three weeks, in our case). " Hang in there - he will come back. Guest guest
I spent five days on the intro diet last week and have been trying to add a few foods back in (squash, applesauce). In the beginning the carrots seemed to give me a lot of gas, so I pulled them out for a few days and put just a few back in yesterday. I'm not having d. anymore, but now it's the opposite. I went over 36 hours with no bowl movement. Today I'm so stinky with gas I can hardly stand myself! I don't know where to go from here, but am hoping someone has some suggestions for me. I'm not sure about this, but just the fact that you've gone from D to C is a good sign that your gut is adjusting to the new diet, and hopefully beginning to heal. It sounds like you are safe to proceed beyond the intro diet. You're still going to have symptoms, but over time they'll begin to get better, and if I were you I would just keep adding in new foods one at a time to make sure they don't cause a change in your symptoms for the worse. Keep up the good work though! =D Peace =)Alyssa 15 yoUC April 2008, dx Sept 2008SCD June 2009 (restarted)No meds!
Guest guest
Hi Tai.. I had this yoyo experience too as I healed.. It sure is frustrating.. I also experienced loads of uncomfortable and smelly gas.. Not to get too gross but I am thankful my husband has no sense of smell LOL. Why don't you type out exactly what you are eating including supplements and medications? That way one of us can brainstorm with you to see if there is a culprit or this just may be part of the healing process. Hang in there! It gets better, just takes time..
