Guest guest
According to the "experts", how many carbs of grams you want per day depends on what you're trying to achieve, how active you are, and what digestive disorders you're dealing with. There is no minimum daily requirement for carbohydrates. For example, according to most of the experts state that if you want to lose weight, keep to 20 to 60 grams of carbohydrates per day, if you are just maintaining weight, you should have 150 to 250 grams of carbohydrates per day. And the carb intake also depends on your calorie intake per day, which depends on your activity level.... I know, confusing [grin]. For example, if you are eating 2,000 calories per day, you generally get about 250 carbohydrate grams. Athletes generally need closer to 4,000 or 5,000 calories, which translates into 40o to 450 carbohydrate grams. I have Sphincter of Oddi dysfunction, which gives me difficulties digesting carbohydrates (and fiber and fat). I do best if I have under 50 carb grams per day, spread out over all the meals. This also helps me maintain my weight [grin]. SCD is about the types of carbohydrates we eat. How much of the food we consume as carbohydrates varies with each of us. So there's no "rule." Kim M.
