Hi everyone, I have been lurking for several weeks now and felt it was time to introduce myself. I sent this out a couple of days ago and didn't see it post so it may have gotten lost by the wayside- if I missed it then "Never Mind" and I appologize...

I am scheduled for a BPD/DS on June 26 with Dr Gagner, Mt. Sinai hosp. I am getting a little more nervous as the time draws near but am committed to having this done. My story is much the same as all of yours so I won't bore you with too many details. I am 51 yrs old with a bmi of 53, htn, severe severe severe back pain, activity induced asthma, shortness of breath , arthritis, severe ankle and joint pains not necessarily associated with arthritis either and am very uncomfortably bloated which we all know is not necessarily water retention, (my water pills would take care of that if it were), and undiagnosed apnea (my DH is on a CPAP machine and he has told me I stop breathing at night.) I think those are enough reasons. Needless to say, I have had it with struggling with my weight all my life and at this point not have a great quality of life helped me to make this decission. I have decided to reclaim it through wls once and for all.

I have enjoyed reading all of your posts and have found them very helpful. I give all of you a lot of credit with all that you have accomplished and hope to add my name to that list too. Thanks for listening

Hi Sue,

I have my surgery June 13th with Rabkin/Jossart and I'm nervous as

hell as well. I keep picturing my bloated, naked body on the cold

hard steel gurney. A plethora of surgical staff surrounds me, cuts

me open and stick things inside me. I've had a few dreams where I'm

waking up out of anesthesia and say " Thank god " that I woke back up.

I guess I'm also a little nervous about flying home the next day. I

have all my flights and everything scheduled and I hope everything

works out the way I want it to.

When I get back home I'll check up with you and see how you are

doing. Are you having it lap or open?

Hi Sue and welcome. I too am a pre-op. My surgery date

is still a ways away (oct 29th) but if there's

anything I can help with let me know. Glad you're

here. Angel

Hi Sue! We share a surgery date even though we are at opposite ends of the

country. That makes four of us that I know of for 6/26 so far (although my

insurance co. is makng weird noises after approving me on 5/3). I haven't

decided if I'm staying on this list (I'm new too and I haven't gotten

responses to my questions so far), but it's good to know you!

Hi and all,

, your message prompted me to write. I, too, have been reading

the messages for a week or so, but have never posted anything. I am

glad to see postings from other people scheduled for the switch with

Dr. K. He will be my surgeon also, and I will be in Delano a week

before you.

Enjoy the SLO life for the last month before venturing into the hot

valley.

Oh, here's my question for all the experienced posters: how do I

change the font and color on my messages before I post?

Hi ,

Sorry about your not getting any answers. Maybe the

crazy yahoo problems the list has suffered from lately

has kept the people with the answers from seeing your

question. Anyway, I'm a pre-op but if I can help I'd

be glad to answer your questions. And if I can't I'm

more than sure we can scare up someone who can!

Welcome to the list and please stick around. You'll

get your answers I'm sure! Angel

Thanks for all the responses. One of hte things I was wondering about (and

only the anesthesiologist can answer this I suppose) is if any of you

listened to tapes *during* surgery?

Thanks.

Dr. K
