Guest guest
Hi , Cool! We're going to Disney on 12/10--maybe we'll be there at the same time? We'll know each other by the enormous cooler bags we'll have with us Does your son eat nut butter yet? I have frozen almond butter muffins and peanut butter muffins, as well as small amounts of any other snack I've made over the past month. My dd has been on the diet for 3 1/2 years, and is able to eat very advanced things, so I have foods like nut brittle packed. If you search the archives here, there are a lot of people who have talked about taking a child (or themselves) newly on SCD to Disney. It sounds like eating out there is very easy, as long as you tell the restaurant ahead of time (like now) about your son's dietary requirements. (We keep kosher so have another added layer of complexity here. I've been talking with Disney Special Services for weeks to see if my dd can get just a meal of kosher meat and vegetables seasoned w. olive oil, salt and pepper. It remains to be seen if it can be done). Have a great trip! Ellen 12 y/o dd scd since 5/06 for Crohn's med-free and doing great and we're going on vacation for the first time in 7 years!!!!!! Guest guest
Hi, I was just there. There are a ton of restaurants in and outside of Disney. For the restaurants in Disney, you will be asked to speak to a chef about your dietary allergies. As soon as I described my issues as allergies(Which is true thanks to my gluten allergy) I was handed over to a chef. These people went out of their way. In magic kingdom, make sure you try for a reservation in for the Crystal Palace if you choose to go there. It gets crowded. We ate lunch at off peak so we wouldn't have to wait with a 15 month old. In fact here is a very helpful link: http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/restaurants/ Just make sure you check the parks you are visiting on the left side of the page. If you explain dietary issues at the gate no one will give you a hassle if you bring food. Also Orlando has a ton of restaurants. They are all competing for business and most are excellent when it comes to dietary issues. Just don't ask them to do anything for you at Taco Bell or Mac s type restaurants. Enjoy!! Guest guest
YES my son is doing well on MY food. Disney is a fortune I do NOT want 1-starving child that refuses food made my chefs...and is just "a different" 2- kid flipping over food reaction I got a kitchen to help with problem I am focusing on... it's about the PLACE and PEOPLE>. not the food... the food needs to be stable. I have let him stray twice in past month. tiny tiny bits. reactions were swift and about 1 hour or so long. not what I want to deal with at Disney. I want it fun.. for us all.
