I am currently starting the process to have this procedure done. I

am interested in receiving any feedback from individuals who have

had this procedure done. I am finding that this is not as popular as

the RNY surgery. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. I live

in the atlanta georgia area. I am also finding that it is hard to

find a doctor who performs this type of surgery.

If you are in the Atlanta GA area, there is a surgeon, Dr Dennis

, in Marietta. He is quite booked up but if you go on-line and

download his application form, fill it out hand carry it and try to

get an appt for a consult at the same time. You will find the

information at:

http://www.minisurg.com

There is a support group located on yahoo just for Dr 's

patients and wannabe patients.

Good Luck to you.

YOU ARE SOOOOOOOOOOOOO LUCKY!!! There is a surgeon

who not only does the DS but also does the LAP DS

right there in Marietta! go to the links page of the

group and then get on the DS website, they have the

doctors listed there. I am in Chicago and having a

HELL of a time getting someone to refer me to VA, GA,

NY or OR. Consider yourself lucky and be prepared to

educate the medical profession you work with as to why

the DS is better, and it definately is!

The DS is the latest in the evolution of weight loss surgeries,

though it's been done for almost 15 years here in the US. When I had

surgery in Oct of '99, I had 12 surgeons world wide to choose from.

In the 18 months since then, that number has grown to over 40 and

continues to grow. Also, at that time, there were only 250 people on

the DS list, now it's grown to over 1200. People are really

beginning to see the benefits of this procedure. Good luck in your

research. Feel free to email me if you have any questions.

,

Have you looked at the Dr's in Ohio? There is Dr.

Maguire in Kettering Ohio (who I'm going to) and the

" premiere " founder of the BPD/DS, Dr. Hess in Bowling

Green. Either one would be closer to you than GA,

VA,Ny or Or. Good luck and I hope you find someone

soon. Sincerely, Angel
