Trader Joe's Protein Powder

Agh...Sorry to bring the famous Protein question up again (and

again).

I originally purchased the Pro-rated chocolate protein powder at

costco

and it tasted like death to me so I couldn't bring myself to drink

the

stuff. I ran into a Whey Protein powder from Trader Joes (offically

called Trader Darwin's). I love the taste of the vanilla and I just

bought the chocolate. What I worry is...is it too good to be true.

Usually when I *love* something it's terrible for me so has anyone

here

tried their shakes?

I compared it with Pro-rated and it's about the same give or take a

few

things. Here's some info on the can...Do I have your blessings to

continue with this brand??

Calories = 120 (1 scoop / 31 g.)

Calories from fat = 10 grams

Total Fat= 1.5 g

saturated fat= 1g

Total Carbs = 10g

sugar= 9g

dietary fiber = <1g

Protein = 17g

(this was the info for the chocolate which I haven't tried tasting

yet)

Thanks,

Azin

Azin,

Congratulations on your surgery date! How much was the protein powder at Trader Joe's? I have found some at GNC and they have a money back guarantee. I am also kinda skeptical about buying protein powder. I also bought the powder at Costco and it was DEATH......my husband and daughter were trying it and also hated it! I bought myself the chocolate and my daughter the vanilla and we ended up throwing them both away. I didn't even want it in the house to remind me of it. I am just waiting for them to call me for my surgery date, so I am trying to get real prepared.....

Good luck....

Patty

My humble opinion is that it's pretty high in sugar

and fat, pretty low in protein. Not the best choice,

I think. I'm sure someone else will chime in. Not

enough sugar to make you dump, but higher than the

powders I use.

Congrats on your date!!

Laurie

Hi Patty,

$7.99 at Trader Joes - it's like a coffee can size instead of the

jugs. I've really enjoyed the vanilla so far and I treat myself

with throwing in a few frozen raspberries in there (also from TJ).

Thanks!

Hi Laurie,

I just got home from work and you're absolutely right...it is a bit

higher than the costco brand. I'm wondering if I should still drink

this stuff or cut out the shakes all together. I do watch

everything else so maybe I can " afford " to keep the shakes? Well

now I have two new cans I guess I'll decide when I'm done. The

calories are the same though...1 scoop = 120 calories

Thank you for responding...
