Terri, I did get to see her this afternoon. I gave her a little kiss on the hand because I was afraid I might lean over too far, lose my balance, pull her trach out, etc! I asked her if there was anything she wanted me to tell the group & she said, "I'll be back." I only stayed a few minutes, because I was exhausted & hurting, and Darlene was more exhausted & hurting. was there; I gave him a big hug from the group & told him to give it to her a little bit at a time. The girls weren't there.

Well, I just got back from Indianapolis (long day; long story) & I'm going to get some supper. I'll try to get back on, but more likely I'll snooze off. Sam's hearing was today & the parole board voted unanimously (sp?) to keep her in the girls school for "awhile," probaby several months. I think 2 of them were on the fence until Sam went off on them, saying it was a waste of time for her to repeat the program, that the program was a pile of crap, and that they didn't even know it was a pile of crap, and if it wasn't a pile of crap, girls wouldn't be coming back. Well, that went over big. It's actually a very good program, with a lower recidivism rate than most juvenile facilities. Anyway, I am drained physically & emotionally. Hope everyone's okay tonight.

Rose, I am sorry for butting imto your email. How do you deal with all this as sick as you are? They say God only gives us as much as we can bear, well honey God must think you are right up there with Jesus Christ. I can bearly deal with my illness and I am not nearly as sick as you and I am not alone. You have to be THE support system for others, be sicker and have all of this. My heart just goes out to you. What happens that causes our children or grandchildren to lose their way some times no matter how strong the family is. I can tell that you had to be a good mother and of course grandmother. And yet they just seem to veer a little off center. They find their way back but the parents are never the same again. God Bless You Barb J.Rose wrote: Terri, I did get to see her this afternoon. Hey, Barb. Thanks for the kind words. I was totally worn out by the time I got home. One good thing---when I got home, I told my mom that I have to get a scooter. And she brought out a Masonic ring that belonged to my great-uncle. She's had it in her room for years & she told me to sell it. I took it to a jeweler who was recommended by an old friend & he said if I wanted it appraised for insurance reasons, it would be over $5000, but that I probably wouldn't get nearly that much selling it, especially if I wanted to sell it soon. The value is in the diamond, rather than the fact that it's a Masonic ring. He thinks he can get $2500-3000 for it. I considered trying E-Bay, but I'd have to get someone else to do it for me, and I'd rather go with someone I trust. I hope it sells soon, because I really want that scooter before I have to go for another appt in Indy.

Well, I'd better go, or I won't get any more messages answered. Plus I have to go buy some coax cable for Mom's tv.

Rose, Have you thought about contacting the masonic lodge in your area & seeing if anyone would be interested. Or better yet if you can get an email address for them, email a picture about with a sentence that reads "I have had it appraised"; and see if you get a bite. Just a thought.....ConnieRose wrote: Hey, Barb. Thanks for the kind words. I was totally worn out by the time I got home.

Connie, I did talk to a couple of Masons; that's where I got the referral to the jeweler. I had done some Internet research & brand-new rings were mostly $1000 or less. I thought that maybe Uncle Ralph was some kind of Grand Poobah or something, so his ring would be worth more. The jeweler said it was just an average Masonic ring, even though it's been around a long time, but that the diamond was worth more. I've been trying to get Mom to find that ring for at least a year, after she said she was giving it to me. It was only when I came back from Indy last week so exhausted & in pain that she brought it out & said to sell it & get a scooter or whatever I needed. She doesn't want me to pay off medical bills with it. I would like to get another hearing aid; I've been with just one for over 18 mos. My audiologist had a reconditioned one awhile back that was almost identical to the one I still have. I should be able to get a portable scooter & hearing aid, if she still has it. A new one like my old ones is $2200, and the latest technology--to improve music & conversation--runs $2800+. But I would be happy with one for each ear.

First I'm going to check out the info that Quint gave me.
