Extreme fatigue

I'm 3 months out. Don't EVEN go there about menopause, girly. I'm only 41, my mom didn't start menopause until she was 54. I have had three periods since my sugery, all on time, and normal (although intense). I'll do a check up pretty soon with the ob/gyn, but usually this surgery makes you MORE fertile...particularly if you have PCOS, like I do. There was no sign of perimenopause the last time we tested, which was less than a year ago.

So, after 6 months out, did you recapture your former vigor? Or are you still less energetic than you were before the surgery?

I'm one of those fatties that never realized I was fat...always zipped about like a crazy woman...so it's hard to adjust.

How far out are you now? I know I was extremely fatigued until at least 6 months out. Yawning constantly...could have slept all day if I wanted to. I'm afraid I'll have to side w/Dr. Baggs. We all adjust differently to the malabsorption, and it make take longer for some. I had low iron stores at 3 months out. Maybe try supplementing your iron with additional vitamin C for added absorption. Just my two cents...pascha :)> > OK guys...i need some help here. Have you moved yet, Pasch? How's it going?

Another thing: Is it possible that you are in some kind of pre-menopausal cycle? Robynn,

Another thing to ask your PCP to check is your thyroid - not

necessarily because of Graves', but because ANY major trauma to the

body can cause a crash in the thyroid. It's fairly common after

childbirth, for example. It happened to me - all of a sudden about

three months out I started feeling like I was wading uphill through

molasses. My PCP at the time told me that she'd also seen cases of

people who had the same thing happen after major accidents and/or

surgery. . . which certainly would fit in your case. . . so it's

worth asking. I take a very small amount of thyroid hormone most

days; if I miss a day it's not a big deal, but if I go a week or more

without it I gain weight, my skin breaks out, and I start needing 10 -

12 hours of sleep a night.

Yup, that's when I developed Graves's, just a few

months after childbirth. I, too, think that you should

have your thyroid checked, but I've said that before,

so I'll stop nagging you...

OK, I'll have my PCP check it out, to make sure it's nothing more than just being anemic.Pamela wrote:
