Guest guest
, I'm glad you're up to posting!! Btw, did Dr Deveny prescribe that Actigall since he didn't take out your gallbladder ? That weight loss is fantastic, btw!! As for the nausea, most likely you have prolonged symptoms due to your complications, etc..it will take your body a little longer to recover. Are you taking Compazine for the nausea ? There's another one, but I don't remember the name..Also, have you verified with Dr Deveny or maybe even Dr ? It's definitely abnormal to actually be throwing up at 6 weeks, I believe, but then you also had random complications that caused an extended hospital stay. Just to update you as well, Sharon (Goldenlady) is out of bed and she's able to walk with a walker, etc and she's getting better and better everyday as well! She still has a ways to go with all of her complications and the coma, her body is still recovering, but she's definitely a fighter as are you, ! Keep us updated!! Guest guest
---Hi--I just wanted to say welcome back to the list. Give yourself time--the energy will return...I am 3 wks post-op part 1 today & I am still a little low on energy, even compared to pre-op. I guess some of us just take a little more time to recuperate. I was so excited to see you post. Unfortunately, I cannot be of much help with the throwing up--I know I only spit-up at this point if I have made a food selection that my body is just not ready for-- fortunately, I havent made many of those mistakes. Guest guest
, Boy oh boy I am glad you are home and doing well for the most part. I hope the nausea resolves. I have no suggestions for that because I have not had surgery yet ..... Knee-jerk reaction: you're preggers. But, it would have been most difficult for you to have done that in the hospital with all of us watching over you. So, it's gotta be something else. Unless you were really fooling around there, and all that stuff we heard from Gobo about he open incision, etc., was just a cover story... () Seriously, I have no idea, and I wish you a rapid recovery from the nausea. >Doctors can't tell me. >I am trying to eat but still have nausea not as bad as while at OHSU. Can you try eating something bland that will stick to your ribs first thing, maybe even before getting out of bed. For instance, some instant oatmeal (the instant variety seems to me to be less of a challenge to my stomach). >I miss you all and will post again soon. Guest guest
Hi Anita, No,the doctor did not prescribe actigal. Atleast not yet. I will mention it on my next appointment especially since I seem to be losing rapidly. I have nausea meds but do not take them because I will sleep non stop. In the morning when I throw up it is clear and white. The docs did tell me my brain needs to learn new signals. I only throw up first thing. It is like dry heaves. Then I go take my zantac and about 1 hour later am able to eat a bit of something. I am so glad Sharon is on the mend. I have said so many prayers for her. I guess a few of us do this procedure the hard way. Angels hover ever near, > > Hi friends, > > I want to start of by telling you how special you all are and how > > special you made me feel. Guest guest
Ogretta, Your weightloss has been terrific too. While I was in the hospital my weight soared to 347 from 282. It wasn't until about the last week & a half in the hospital that it started to come off. I was worried they had screwed up. When I throw up it is on an empty stomach. No food has made me sick and I have yet to eat too much. I actually have zero interest in food at this point and have to force myself to eat. I also hate sweet things since surgery. Why? > I am trying to eat but still have nausea not as bad as while at OHSU.> Doctors can't tell me. Dear dear , I am so happy to see your post...if I recall correctly we were " switch sisters " . Was your surg 4/11 ? I am glad you are finally able to join us all here. We all held you close in our prayers during your awful ordeal. I had to respond to your post as I know what you mean about throwing up everyday. I talked to Dr. Hess and he gave me compazine and a pill called Protonics. He thought perhaps I had too much stomach acid because everytime I'd sleep I would wake up with stomach pain that felt like someone had socked me in the gut. Then after getting up seems my tummy would be really supersensitive to " smells " and after going to the bathroom I'd feel nauseated til I threw up and it would always be on an empty stomach. Just looks like phlegm. Maybe the nausea came from my allergies and sinus drainage cause I have sort of always had that problem during certain times of the year. I take the compazine and protonics at bedtime and that sorta helps nip the acid thing for morning and I dont really feel too sleepy if I take the compazine during the day unless I'm just layin around watching tv or something. Hope this helps somewhat. Hang in there sweetie...it will get better. Hugs, a BPD/DS Dr.Hess 4-11-01 441 lbs 5-22-01 389 lbs ADIOS 52 lbs!!!!! Guest guest
!! Welcome back!! I'm about to depart on my way to Miss. for my surgery.. am very glad you are back. I'm not postop, but have a suggestion about the nausea- keep a ziplock baggie with plain saltine crackers in it on/in your bedside table, & eat a few before even sitting upright in bed. I don't know why, but it helps many with intractible nausea. Another thing to try is crystallized ginger- chewing/sucking on tiny pieces also can relieve nausea.. along the same lines, ginger-ale by the bed.. usually flat works best. I hope you find a solution ASAP... you've been through enough! Hugs, Liane preop- Dr Warden 5/30/
Guest guest
Glad you are back home and sorry you are having such a go at it. Maybe you should take your zantac in the middle of the night when you get up to go potty. I suffered terribly with acid reflux (I take prilosec now) and the worst times for me was in the middle of the night and first thing in the am. I get up every morning and drink 20 ounces of water to dilute the acid before I eat or drink anything else. If it is really bad I take a pepcid complete. I agree with another poster that it could be sinus drainage causing you to be nauseated in the AM. Especially this time of the year and if you sleep with your windows open. Also, frequent changing of the air filters in the AC system can help with pollen and mold spoors.

Guest guest
Hy Cynthis- Congrats on your great weight loss. I found eating saltines without the salt helps with nausea. You could try this when you wake up. I also took a prescribed med called Aciphex-it was given to me after my endoscopy and helps with bacteria and irritation. Hope this helps and good luck.
