Hey everyone!

Guess what I just got in my mailbox?? A letter from the RNY doc I

consulted with back in March, stating that there is no one in my area

who performs the BPD/DS and that he supports my decision to go

out-of-network to get it!!!

For you new folks who have just joined the list, I live in the Albany

NY area and the closest DS surgeons are in NYC. I chose Dr Pomp but

my insurance wouldn't cover because he is out-of-network. I

explained

to them they had no one IN-plan who did the DS but they said I have

to

appeal.

Since I had the consult with the local RNY surgeon at the request of

my PCP, I took a chance and wrote him a letter requesting

verification that there is no one locally who does the BPD/DS. I

knew

he had nothing to gain by writing it for me, but it was worth the

trouble to ask. He actually took the time to do it!!! If anyone in

upstate NY is considering getting an Lap RNY - Dr Singh at Albany Med

is AWESOME!!

I am SOOO psyched! And now I have to wait the whole long weekend to

fax it to my insurance to add to my appeal which I submitted last

week!!! Dare I hope this may be clinched???
