Guest guest
Do any of you with Crohn's have issues with hemorrhoids too? DH keeps getting them and I'm wondering if that's common, or if it's just him. Thanks!
Guest guest
Hi Devorah, Yeah.. I get them.. Sometimes as I heal and stools become more firm I get them. Nuts and nut flour products did not help my situation in this area whatsoever! Jodi > > Do any of you with Crohn's have issues with hemorrhoids too? Guest guest
I have Crohns and have had hemorrhoids since I was 19 (currently 32). I've had constipation since I was about that age too. I still have C from time to time but the H seems to worse when I have D. I didn't have my first real symptoms of Crohns until I was 30. So I dunno. Guest guest
I developed H when I was pregnant. They are pretty common with pregnancies, and common in general. I don't know if people with IBD are more prone to them, or that simply they occur in IBD and non IBD people as well. Certainly C or frequent D would promote them and aggravate them. Guest guest
They may not be hemmies, but " elephant ears, " which are anal skin tags caused by crohn's. Here's a link to pictures of both (the elephant ears are in the third pic down): http://www.emedmag.com/html/pre/fea/features/011504.asp Apparently, if you try to surgically remove an elephant ear as if it were a hemmie, you'll end up in a world of hurt! I have one, but it's not particularly bothersome since being on SCD. More like just a fleshy nuisance ;-). Holly Crohn's SCD 12/01/08 > > Do any of you with Crohn's have issues with hemorrhoids too? Guest guest
Hmm. Thanks so much for the link! Did a little research on these now but I don't think that's what he has. His are very painful and from what I read, the skin tags are not usually painful (just annoying). Is that right? Is it possible for skin tags to hurt? I just feel so bad for him. He was finally starting to feel a little better and this is wearing him out. Also, he feels like they are blocking his anus and he can't really get everything out when he poops. Does that make sense? I wonder if it's like Jodi was saying that now that he's finally having some firmer stools, they are back. Sigh - I wish there was something I could do to make it all better. Guest guest
This is the place I've used on and off for the past 10 years, I heard about the treatment from my uncle. Its virtually pain free and real cheap. Since my 9 year old son doesn't have crohns any longer, I've taken him in for 1 visit and he'll need a few more to get rid of the remaining hemorrhoids he had developed while he had active crohns. Im sure you can find a naturopath that uses the keesey treatment in other states(I just googled and can only find the clinics in oregon and 1 in seattle that do this treatment, but other places must do this instead of surgery) http://hemorrhoidhelp.com/portland-or-hemorrhoid-relief.htm  Keesey Technique: A type of electrotherapy treatment for internal hemorrhoids. An negative galvanic electrical current is sent to the hemorrhoidal tissue of the rectum, causing painless electrochemical destruction of the hemorrhoidal tissue. The Keesey Treatment Process Includes: A quick and painless exam, using an anoscope to view the internal tissue 5-10 minute treatments for each internal hemorrhoid Up to two sites can be treated in one visit Most patients are able to return to their day to day activities with little, if any, discomfort. Cary son 9 yrs old crohns - not active - is feeling great, gained weight and is full of energy. Devorah Shalev wrote:  Hmm. Thanks so much for the link! Guest guest
The " elephant ears " can be quite painful when in a flare. They are hard and very sensitive. Very similar to a hemmie, really. Mine used to weep a bit too. Now that it's not flared, it's more floppy/soft and doesn't hurt. I know mine isn't a hemmie because it's a fleshy mountain ridge from the anal opening all the way to the vaginal opening. Thankfully, it's just the one. The picture in the link I posted would be terrible to have! Holly Crohn's SCD 12/01/08 > > Hmm. Thanks so much for the link! Did a little research on these now but I don't think that's what he has. Guest guest
Thanks so much for this info! I am looking into it. Unfortunately, I live in Las Vegas which is totally in the dark ages when it comes to medicine. But I'll be making some phone calls and I'm hopeful! Thanks!
