Guest guest
I am craving a salad so bad i cant stand it! Ive been wanting to fix a 7 layer salad for the last week. Lettuce(or spinach), peas, nuts, minced onion(dehydrated), real bacon bits, parmesean cheese and mayo slightly sweetened with splenda. I prefer to leave out the celery and boiled eggs. Although i wouldnt mind eating just the yellow in the salad...hehehe. Can i please have this??? Is it too early for salad. My doctor is a firm believer in getting all my protein from real food not drinks. But i also do the drinks anyway. They make me feel better. Back to the salad.....is it too early for salad???? sheryll in oklahoma

Guest guest
I gotta say, the description of that salad sounds repulsive to me. I'm a California girl, so when I think salad...I just think of a bunch of fresh greens and veggies with a little balsamic, and maybe a smidge of some kind of wonderful cheese, like chevre. Blech. I hate mayonnaise. Dehydrated onion? Yikes. I can't imagine. I think greens are quite fibrous, and thus a bit hard on the healing digestive track. I'm hoping at my next appointment I'll be able to have some salad, because I reallly love it. We'll see. Guest guest
Robynn, they told us at our 12 week apt that we were free to eat the normal stuff which included salad. I have not eaten any because I don't like salad or salad dressing. I did have salad last week and found it hard to chew the lettuce up appropriately. Take care and I hope you are getting some rest. Guest guest
I eat salads in spite of the fact that I was told to wait until 12 weeks..I'm almost at 8 weeks and eating salad since about 5 weeks out. Obviously they give me no trouble but you do have to chew well as in all foods and try a little at a time. Maggie
Guest guest
I eat salads, too. I had my first one about 6 weeks post op. I haven't had any problems with them although I do find myself not feeling full off them. If I add chicken or shrimp then I get full, but it almost seems like I could eat the greens endlessly.
