you are not alone! I know of one mito family who installed and industrial-flush toilet b/c of it and we had to have ours roto-rooted a few times b/c of it. This is a motility issue which is also an autonomic issue. Carnitor is thought to help here if you aren't on that yet...make sure and ask for Carnitor by name. L-Carnitine is not a RX but Carnitor is something only a pharmacist can make for you so you need to have an RX for it. Stool softeners are not going to help unless your child does become constipated, but I hear ya. I don't think there is a whole lot that can be done b/c its autonomic which is an issue with the brain and thus far, we don't have meds for that. Give the carnitor a try or increase it if you are already on it. Nope, you aren't alone...I remember looking the toilet and laughing and thinking about all my friends with 'normal' lives and how much laughter I get to have at the craziest things!
