Guest guest
Hi PJ, I am currently taking SeaCure. My GI recommended this for me for LGS and I also have Crohn's. I do not like prescriptions and he is aware of this. I take 2 capsules before each meal, they smell terrible, my DH freaks out every time he catches a wiff. Before I started taking them I talked to Lucy from the Kitchen Shoppe and she said they sounded legal to her. Eventually I will go down to 1 capsule before each meal. Hope this is helpful to you. Happy Thanksgiving! Holly O Crohn's 5/09 SCD 9/1/09 > > Anyone here use one or both of these? Is Seacure even legal? > PJ >

L-glutamine, as long as there are no illegals added, is legal, although some people have a negative reaction. Not knowing what's IN Seacure, I can't say. SO much stuff is prescribed for the gut by naturopaths that is sooo illegal that it makes my head spin. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund
Guest guest
I looked it up. The label says " natural ingredients added " which is code for illegals PJ > >Anyone here use one or both of these? Guest guest
Thanks, it is mostly fish protein, which I think would be legal, but I looked it up and there are " natural flavorings added " which could be anything. However, we can still take our meds- so If that is what your GI wants and it helps- then OK, but it can't be said to be legal for SCD. I'm glad it is working for you. Thanks, PJ > > > > Anyone here use one or both of these? Is Seacure even legal? > > PJ > > >
Guest guest
Hi Marilyn and all, Yes, naturopaths do tend to prescribe a lot of stuff that just doesn't agree with us. I have tried so many over the past decade and felt like I was just a guinea pig - then ending up in hospital - so i just tend to take my medication, plus a multi-vitamin and prescribed Vitamin D, and of course doing the diet for a few weeks now. Did anyone else have trouble with Naturopaths over the years? Does anyone else take Vit D? Bibi > >Anyone here use one or both of these? Guest guest
Bibi, I found out I was vit D deficient this past spring, and have been taking vit D ever since. My levels are now low-normal, so I am taking a higher dose for a while. PJ > > >Anyone here use one or both of these? Guest guest
Hi PJ, I have had extensive conversations with the makers of Seacure. I do believe it is a high quality product made from very good deep sea white fish. With that said they won't reveal the proprietary process's ingredients as to how the fish is " predigested " and what Enzymes they use. Now, I explained that I don't want the processing techniques but I want the actual ingredients that are used. They will not disclose this to me. I have not pursued this via email or letterhead. It was a series of phone calls. Personally, I have come to the conclusion more and more that if a company is unwilling to disclose ingredients %100 I just don't take the chance. Kind of like my experience recently at the farmers market, the farmer didn't want to reveal %100 in lamb bacon and I was like " huh? why not? this really negates the idea of knowing your farmer " I am supposed to be speaking to the owner next week. Guest guest
Thanks Jodi, I agree with not trusting a product when the ingredients are unknown and the manufacturer refuses to disclose them for the health of the consumer. Thanks for letting me know. I once bought turkey bacon and found out one of the " hidden " ingredients was pork, which gave it the bacon taste. Now I don't buy any kind of " bacon " . I would look into that " 100% " too. PJ > > > > I looked it up. Guest guest
Anyone here use one or both of these? Is Seacure even legal? I used to take Seacure. It's fermented white fish or something like that. I think it would be legal. It smells dreadful. DH called these my " dead mouse " pills. They are supposed to heal the gut. Glutamine is just an amino acid and it also is supposed to promote healing of the gut lining. I don't think amino acids would be a problem as long as there isn't anything else in the capsules that is illegal.

It's been probably 15 years since I took the Seacure, but I called the company on those natural flavorings. I was told it was rosemary, added to try to overcome the awful smell (which it did not). I don't know if that has changed since then, however. It didn't do me any good so after a couple of bottles I quit taking it.
