Post Op Depression?

Right before I had my surgery someone post a long thing about post-op depression. I saved it for future reference and now can't find it. I think when I was going through the thousands of emails at the library I must have deleted it.

I have been doing really well but the last week have been feeling like my life is falling apart. I usually bounce back pretty easily but this has been just awful. I feel like I've lost all the inner strength and direction I have and simply can't seem to get my serenity back. Usually I find great comfort in the Lord and the strength of the Holy Spirit but even that is not there.

Could someone repost about post op depression so I can evaluate if that's really what it is or if the circumstances around me are the root. Or, maybe it's a combination of things. I sure wasn't happy about returning to work!

baby, you probably read old post about this but

what was explained to me (and anyone can jump right in

here and correct me at any time) was that hormones are

stored in our fat cells. Post surgery we lose weight

at a rapid rate but the hormones do not leave like the

fat so you end up with a overload of hormones and the

body can't really adjust that easy to the overload.

God nor the Holy Spirit has neither left you or

forgotten about. Sometimes we have to go through

these quiet little moments but be assured that God is

still with you. I used to tell myself that this is a

watching time for God. God is always ever present but

sometimes I think God is watching to see what we will

do with the situation. Continue to talk with God

(prayer) and things will get better for you.

I hope you feel better real soon.

Hi Pam,

I hadn't heard this but is makes sense. My doctor told me a long time ago that one of the reasons I had female problems was because of all the excess hormones stored in my big old belly (he didn't put it that way but you know). I've even had some vaginal bleeding which I figured had something to do with it as well.

I did find the article in our archives and it's called "Hibernation Syndrome". I tell you I'm a mess. I'm on the verge of tears constantly and just on edge. There are some things going in in our life, but usually I cope much better than I have been because I refuse to let stuff steal my joy. I tell you it's big time gone this week!

Was it about Hibernation Syndrome? If so, it is in the Files section. Go

to

http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/gastric-bypass-support-kaiser-patients/file\

s/

and scroll down to the file named " Hibernation Syndrome.txt " .

Do keep in mind that you just had people rearranging your innards with

sharp instruments. It was MAJOR SURGERY, even if it was done lap. Even

if the little incisions are healed up, the innards take a while longer

to figure out what the heck is going on! Don't expect that you can just

jump back into doing eveything you used to. You will eventually be able

to, but not right away. Listen to your body. If it says you need a nap,

take a nap!

Hang in there honey, it really DOES get better!

Well physically I feel fine. I'm just unhappy!! I hated having to come back to work and other things are going on and I'm just not doing all right. I did find the info on Hibernation Syndrome of course after I sent the email. Can't take a nap--my employer already hates me!
