We havecomplex partial seizures but hers are a bit scarybecause not only do they involve her breathing but herheart rate as well

, What do you see during a seizure? Chelsea also tends to have breathing difficulties during seizures. She has always hyperventilated, but once she started having tonic clonic seizures, she gets cyanotic with ragged breathing, and often has pauses in her breathing and trouble starting up again. It sounds like her throat collapses during a seizure.

I have also noted that her heart rate sky rockets to 150-170bpm (norm is 90-130bpm) when she goes into a seizure and then drops very low, 70-80bpm, when she has been hooked up to her pulse ox. I have mentioned this to her ped, and she said that was typical during a seizure and not to worry, unless her heart rate stays erratic.

Do you do anything to help relieve these sx's? I have found her breathing troubles are better if she is upright during a seizure. I usually sit behind her and rest her back on my chest and not restrict her movments.

e, Chelsea's mom(nonspecific mito)
