Guest guest
Have you tried fish oil?. Fish oils can prevent dangerous heart rhythms. Eating oily fish (salmon, tuna, etc) at least twice per week can prevent cardiac arrhythmia's that can lead to sudden death. . Re: Irregular hear rates Gracie has totally irregular heart rates, and often her blood pressure fluctuates enourmously. Her average bpm is over 140 but it often goes way over 200 bpm, she also has no real baseline for BP but it is always high. For Gracie it is just an autonomic dysfunction thing, but you need to make sure of this first. Carnitine defficiancy can cause a weakness of the heart muscles causing problems and there are also countless other ways to get an irregular beat. I would definatly make sure your cardiologist is well aware of the problem. With Grace it took her seeing her cardiologist and a nephrologist (kidney doctor) to do all there testing before we were comfortable saying there was not too much to worry about. She still, however has a yearly echo on her heart, just to make sure. Hope everything goes well with the cardiologist. Please contact mito-owner with any problems or questions. Guest guest
Caeden has been having irregular hear rate. When the nurse's take it, it's either high or really low, but it not consistant it speeds up then slows. Is this normal for mito kids? We go to cardiologist for baseline on Monday the 14th. Thanks
Guest guest
My Caden's heart always beats in a sinus arrythmia. They say it's ok but it sounds really, really scary! It sounds like it stops.. well, it does pause.. I am always so afraid I wont hear that next beat. It's much worse when he's sick. He mostly has bradycardia though (low heart rate) unless he's dehydrated then it's high ( as is most everyone else's when dehydrated ). Caden will be breathless with a LOW heart rate...just as if someone was exercising a lot. He is also restless when trying to sleep when it's low. This is when we first discovered it. He was talking in his sleep and just not resting well. I took his pulse and blood pressure and found his pule to be really low (50). Just keep an eye on it. Has he seen a cardiologist. Maybe he could do a holter monitor. We did that plus an event recorder. We kept that for a month and placed it up to his chest during an epiosde and caught tons of them! Good luck, Krystena R. Guest guest
Both Asenath and Zipporrah have irregular heart rates that fluxuates and irregular breath patterns as well. I believe the disautonomia issue is the main culprit and is very frustrating. Sleep time is the worst. Asenath has had very low heart rates at times and as high as 220 bpm at other times. Illnesses make it worse. Zipporrah also has had an occasion of 40 bpm in the hospital a couple months ago that frightened the nurse as she listened to her chest to the irregular pattern. Needless to say it scared me too! I wish there was a quick and easy cure. Our cardiologist for Asenath didn't have much to suggest.
