I even joined the Baltasar group to keep up with your surgery. I am so glad to hear you have survived the mini-cricises. They seem to happen to everyone but as you have come to know they too will pass. I hope you get this before you get on the silver bird and wing back to the USA but whether you do or not, please know that you remain in our thoughts and prayers. Guest guest
Kristie, Hi....Congratulations and welcome to the other side!!!! I have been thinking about you. I also had my gallbladder out and sometimes feel a tinge on my right side when I eat and drink. I think that it will go away in time. I am sorry that they had to convert to open, I know the surgery is hard enough just lap. You must of been doing great to come home on Wed. I had to stay an extra day in the hospital and I had mine lap. I also regretted the surgery the first couple of days, but not now. The 1st day after surgery was my worst, I wouldn't/couldn't drink and I was sick. It had to do with my breathing, I couldn't take deep breaths and when I did I would cough and then throw up. The next day, Friday, I was fine and was drinking and walking. The doctor let me go home on Saturday....I was so happy to be home. I went to the doctor 6 days out and got my staples out and it felt really good. The incisions look really good. I am just glad that you are ok and finally a loser!!!! Dennen filled out and they had to call him at home and confirm. Okay they say surgery is today. I go and get checked in, get to the surgery center adn get ready. They tell my parents do to having the gallbladder removed that I should be done around noon. I walk into the O/R and it is crazy busy but everyone seemed nice. I wake up around 3:30 and they tell me that I had to have open also. My surgery lasted almost 6 hours. What happened::: Apparently the Anestistiologist (sp) put two tubes down my throat. Dr. Dennen was about 90% done with the surgery and was stapling my new pouch together he felt something weird while trying to staple. He tried to staple again felt something weird took a look and saw tubing cut and he did not think he could get it out laparoscopically. He then opened me up to make sure verything was safe and removed. So basically I am a open/lap patient. It hurt I was miserable when I got out feeling like why did I do this to my self. I am now day 4 feeling a lil bit better. The food is going down jello, pudding, soup not much but some. I am sleeping in a recliner entirely to hard to get up from my bed. My back is hurting and my open wound is sore. I do have one question. When ever I drink something and it is very slow sips I feel it go all the way down but when it gets down to the bottom right ( my right) of my stomach it kinda cramps me up? Anyone else feel this? Thanks for! all the well wishes and wondering about me. I am tired, I am walking, and I am sipping so hopefully it only gets better. Guest guest
Kristie, I am so glad you are alright. I have been in my prayers and on my mind all week. I am so sorry things went that way for you but you are finally on the losing side!! It only gets better from here. You will be able to eat and drink more as each week passes. Just take it slow and rest. Don't forget to sip, sip, sip. I know what you mean about the cramping feeling. Anytime I took a drink or ate anything, I felt like my chest was gonna burst. Dr. Dutta said that is just trapped air and the more you burp the better it will feel. I also found that when I walked around it got better and helped me to burb faster. Even now, 3.5 weeks later, I still get that feeling at times, usually when I eat or drink too fast. Hope you feel better soon. It does get better and is so worth it. I am averaging about a pound a day loss, 24 lbs in 25 days. Keep us posted. Cherihollotwomn@... wrote: Well, I got home Wednesday but couldnt get on the computer. Guest guest
> Cheri, Wow what a wonderful weight loss already for you. I am excited today thinking of the possibilities that are there for me now but since surgery until yesterday I could have cared less about the weight loss. All I kept thinking was Kristie why did you do this do to the pain. I am going to my moms today she has a built in chair in her shower. I am going to take a shower and hope that helps me feel even better. I just had a popsicle gosh that taste so good. I am going to try and get in both doses of my vitamins today. Between the medicine, trying to get some water, and trying to get the vitamins in I just felt like there was no more room. Guest guest
Hi Kristie! Don't freak about the water or other liquid causing slightly crampy feelings. Keep in mind that right now your innards are pretty p!$$ed off. This will pass. Try varying the temperature of whatever you're drinking. If pouchie doesn't like cold, how about room temperature? Warm? Moderately hot? Experiment a bit and you'll find what works best for you. hollotwomn@... wrote: > I do have one question. Guest guest
Hi Kristie, Im also a newbie on the other side. My surgery as you may have heard was last Tuesday 9/27, and I cant exactly relate to the cramping from water, but I did have some awful nausea from the water. Now I still have it but its a little less awful, but I hear it only gets better, and so far it has. Im also sorry for what you went through with the opening after the lap. Guest guest
The glaucoma will be easily controlled. The laser surgery to control it will make a tiny incision in the iris of your eyes, and this will make it so that the iris can continue to function (it connects directly to the uveal tract- the spider webs ligaments that actually make the intraocular pressure of our eyes flucuate) and keep the pressures down. It is a painless procedure-- although none of us likes looking at the bright light. It's outpatient, and takes only 10 or 20 mins or so. He will probably have you hang out for a little while- so he can check the pressure-- but it shouldn't interfer with getting that AICD in. As for the labs-- I'm not sure what these are. You'll have to educate me on this one. Take care, and be kind to yourself, it's all going to come together! Tracie
Guest guest
Thanks Tracie. I will be less anxious about having the laser done on my eyes. The labs have to do with clotting factors...inportant for me b/c I could have bled out during the AICD placement. It's just one thing after another. With the glaucoma, I no symptoms at all right now (they showed me this educational tape and it listed all these symptoms)...the only thing that had recently happened was the sarcoid flare a couple of weeks ago with the resulting red eye/pain to left eye but I've had that before over the past 2 yrs and not been dx with glaucoma. Thanks again,Beckytiodaat@... wrote: The glaucoma will be easily controlled. He will probably have you hang out for a little while- so he can check the pressure-- but it shouldn't interfer with getting that AICD in. As for the labs-- I'm not sure what these are. You'll have to educate me on this one. Take care, and be kind to yourself, it's all going to come together! Tracie Get your own web address for just $1.99/1st yr. We'll help. Yahoo! Small Business. Guest guest
My neighbor down the street just began Remicade. The company is paying for it. They have a special fund for hardship cases. It's worth a try. - > > > > The Granulomas on my hypothalmas have not responded to prednisone, > or > > methotrexate, and so, the hospital is discontinuing treatment do to > my > > lack of insurance. Guest guest
I can afford the medication, and have been paying cash for my appointments that isn't the issue, the Docters have just said there's nothing they can do so they're discontinuing treatment. I don't understand why but I will be finding out details at my appointments Nov. 20th and 28th > > > > The Granulomas on my hypothalmas have not responded to prednisone, > or > > methotrexate, and so, the hospital is discontinuing treatment do to > my > > lack of insurance. Guest guest
Hi all! I hope everyone is enjoying their holiday. I just wanted to give an update and ask for advice from the group. While doing some investigating on Crohn's, I discovered that it said hormone therapies, ex. birth control, cause flare ups. I had been taking birth control due to a Complex Ovarian Cyst. I immediately stopped it and am feeling better within days. Has anyone else experience or heard anything of this sort? Thanks, Crohn's Disease SCD 11/
Guest guest
Hi , It totally makes sense, as the diseases we are seeking to cure almost all have ties to our intestinal flora, and hormonal fluctations, particularly birth control pills, are known to disrupt the healthy balance of the gut. This connection was driven home to me after I got sick a couple years ago after taking a round of antibiotics for a sinus infections, followed by the flu, and noting that every time I get my period, I get worse. I just went to a well-known Chronic Fatigue clinic in LA and the doc put me on some bio-identical hormones (it wasn't really my desire, but I'm remaining open to all ideas in my quest for wellness) including pregnenolone and progesterone. I immediately got worse, did some research, and discovered that progesterone, which peaks right before and during our periods, increases yeast activity, of which I've lots following a bout with antibiotics a few months ago. I would be certain is also negatively impacts bacteria. I'm so furious...yet another doctor not really paying attention to what they are doing, and doing harm that a little very basic research could have prevented. I'm angry at myself, too, for having taking something without thoroughly looking into it, and for having lost the ground I'd gained. And other hundred or so dollars worth of worthless supplements to sit on that ever-filling shelf in my kitchen. Thank god for this diet, is all I can say.
