Thank you all for the encouragement.. I do find myself smiling alot.. it's

almost like getting to the other side. I still have a long way to go, but

I'm happy, healthier & loving life so much more.

Football season is here, I can go watch my son play saturday night and climb

UP the bleachers.. sitting higher than the 2nd or 3rd row. I won't feel like

I stand out in the group.. I get to buy a new jacket to wear to the games

this year.. gone is the plain black mans jacket I had been wearing because

it's the only one that fit..

Yes, I do smile alot now.. the changes are good, I try to stay positive and

find the good in it all.

ok, I'm just rambling now.. :)

That's really an accompishment, Cathy. You should be very proud of yourself. I started out at 261 at orientation, and 235.5 the am or surgery. So, I didn't have that far to go to get to the ONEderfuls...but man oh man oh man, was it a very very happy day for me! (just reached it at the beginning of this last month. Now I'm 15 lbs. south of 200...and i'm more and more thrilled the farther I get away from it.

It's a good thing. Yeah!

By the way, the size 12 pants that I was able to buy the other day are actually a little bit loose. However, lest I get on my high horse, I tried a pair of size 14 shorts on (they were in my drawer from before) and it seems like I'd have to lose a good 10 lbs. or more before I could fit into them. Man I wish sizes were more standardized!!! For men, they are..you know: neck size, sleeve size, waist size for shirts. Waist and length for pants. Why the heck can't we have it so simplied for us? It's always a big guessing game.

Crazy.

So, i am in size 12 on one thing...14 in others...and apparently, in these shorts, I'd wear a 16 or even an 18. Go figure.

But, hey, 41.5 inches smaller since surgery is a step in the right direction. (not counting the orientation measurements, which sadly, I never took!) How I'd love to be sure I could fit in a size 8, no matter what!!!

Also, I wish there was some kind of formula like X number of lbs. lost equals X size. I've heard that it's 10 lbs, but that doesn't seem to be accurate for me. I mean, I've lost 50 lbs since surgery, 76 altogether...and I'm still wearing some of the same things I wore at my higher weigt. So, I think it takes at least 20 lbs. before I lose a size.

Does anybody know if as we get smaller, the differences etween the sizes are less?

OK...so Olivier shows up tomorrow afternoon from France. Yes, I know...different subject altogether, hope no one got whiplash from that segue. But, I'm nervous, kind of excited...and just wondering what it will be like. Will he even see a difference in me? We'll see, I guess.

Wish me luck.

Robynn, if it makes you feel any better, mens sizes aren't quite as good as you make them out to be. Maybe not as bad as women's sizes, but it tends to change from one label to another. ie, when I get out my trusty King Size catalogue, I can pretty much always order a 5X in any polo type shirt (at this point though, I'll bet I could order a 4X). Anyway, depending on the manufacturer, it'll be tight, very loose, or fit pretty good.

Okey dokey...I feel better now! Misery loves company, and all. By the by, found out that my iron is rather low, hence the fatigue. I've been getting iron in my two multi-vitamins, and having an additional iron pill supplement every day. They want me to add another, and also take a Vitamin C with the Iron, because it helps you absorb it better. We'll see how it goes. The good news is that I'm absorbing folate and B12 just fine...so maybe this will solve my problem. I hope so.
