Early registration deadline is December 23rd Evaluating the Effectiveness of Workplace Safety & Health Interventions: A Participatory Workshop Thursday, January 26, 9:00 am – 5:00 pm at the Portland Marriott Downtown Waterfront This participatory workshop will use case studies to demonstrate the tools necessary to address typical problems encountered in promoting and maintaining workplace safety and health and community health for farmworkers. Case studies include: 1) Evaluating Your Home-Based Promotora Women’s Health Education Program, Cartwright, PhD, Idaho State University 2) Certificates for Proper Bending and Lifting, Pamela Elkind, PhD, Eastern Washington University 3) Wine Grape Vineyard Case, Faucett, RN, PhD, FAAN, University of California, San Francisco 4) Diabetes Dental Case, Sherri Lukes, RDH, MS, Southern Illinois University-Carbondale Learning Objectives: · How to examine a problem and to suggest potential causal relationships · How to design an intervention to measure the suspected causal factors and presumed intervention · How to evaluate the effectiveness of the intervention The workshop is suitable for migrant clinic staff, promotoras, outreach workers, health educators, clinicians, as well as occupational safety and health professionals, and researchers.
