i have had chips and salsa, i get full on the chips easy, sometimes i make nachos where i put some chips on a plate sprinkle ground beef or chicken shredded and grated cheese nuke it then add some sourcream salsa or mild pico deguyo and then cubed avacado or guacamole, and that way you get the thrill of chips but with lots of protein............

The docs at Pacific Bariatrics say: " No chips or crackers at all!! "

IMHO, I think its because they're carbs and don't help with the weight

loss and PB docs say to eat a high protein diet. However about 2 or 3

weeks after my surgery, I was eating small pieces of low carb tortillas

with my egg-beater omelets. I also limit myself on corn chips because

of the carbohydrates, but I have been able to eat them for some time.

Salsa and guacomole, well, I just don't get along very well with spicey

peppers. I've always had a wimpy tongue (LOL) and since my ulcer, I'm

afraid of the spicy stuff in fear that it would aggrivate my ulcer,

which I hope is healing nicely with all the medicine I'm taking for it.

I have heard of post ops that eat Salsa and guacomole, but they

probably have more tollerance to the spiceyness. If in doubt, I'd

suggest that you check with your WLS surgeon's office about the

advisability of eating the stuff.

Just my 4 cents (inflation!)

Sheryll, I have had chips and salsa (store bought

type) and did not have any problems. I would not

recommend having it though because of the carbs. I

have had it twice since my surgery and I am 7 months

(today) post op. It just did not seem worth it

because it takes away from my protein consumption. I

could be eating more protein instead of what I refer

to as dead food...the crunchy stuff.
