ok..not to be gross, but I poo'd for the first time

since having the surgery..didn't know if it was

supposed to be as dark as it was. Is it? I won't go

into to many details, but lemme tell ya, it was dark.

to be honest i cant remember the color of my first poop after surgery but i think it was normal to light, i wasnt taking iron tablets, if you are taking seperate iron tablets i know that can sometimes make poops dark.

Yes, a dark poo is ok. It is blood in your stool from

having your stomach cut. You may have blood (black)

stools the first few times you go. It mentioned that

in my discharge paperwork.

Its the unabsorbed iron. Are you taking it with a vitamin C? If not

try that.

It's possible there was still some blood in there from your actual

surgery. I wouldn't worry TOO much about it if it was just a one-time

thing. If future poops are dark (do you mean kinda like wet coffee

grounds?), check with the doc PRONTO! Do be aware that iron can

sometimes cause dark poops, so don't panic. Just check with the doc.
