Guest guest
Wow, congratulations on your progress. I've also been on SCD 7 months- and doing great- but I'm not to the point of even trying dried fruit except for the rare Lara Bar. From what I recall, Elaine said over consumption of anything is wrong on the diet. Even if you tolerate all that dried fruit without checking into the loo for the day, (as I fear I would LOL), you are eating a ton of carbs and roughage, and yes, one can get hooked on carbs I would limit it. I guess the only way is to reduce them, and if you can't resist, go low carb to break the addiction. You'll feel a bit yukky at first, but once the insulin surges and blood sugar lows from too much carbs eases, you won't crave them. Read " Life Without Bread " for a good discussion on carbs. Guest guest
what about peanut butter? That's a sweet treat that you can use in place of dried fruit. You're doing REALLY well for only being on this diet 7 months. I'm at the same spot and the only dried fruit I have is raisins but it'swhen I make cinnamon raisin bread. If you like bannanas you can mix peanut butter with honey, and then put a blob on the end of a banana as you eat it. SOOO good.-UC - 1 yearSCD - 3.5 months 100% strict and 4 months restricted diet.Asacol - 4 pills 3 times a day - hopefully scd will help me get off these! Guest guest
Reducing carbs hasn't undone my craving for them, unfortunately. I eat between 100 - 110 grams a day (which seems low carb to me, but maybe I'm wrong). My sweet tooth is as strong as ever though!
