Guest guest
Hi, have you had your blood checked? Don't eat anything scratchy--I still can't tolerate straight spinach. It has to be souffle form and not very often. Make sure you peel, deseed and cook well any fruits, vegetables. Make sure meats/fish are tender. You only do the intro for 2-5 days. You should be adding in some type of new foods by now. If you dilute juice with a lot of water, that is ok. Like less than half juice and the rest water. I have your symptoms and I'm really anemic right now they say. I've read your other posts about blood covered bathroom episodes. Have you asked the doctor (I also take Pentasa even though the new GI has me switched to Asacol for some reason). Do you take anything like Protonix to protect your stomach? Dizziness is bad, heart rate going up is bad. I'll spare you what happened to me last week at the ER but without blood--and I have been waking up having trouble breathing, dizziness, lightheaded, heart going a mile a minute. Go see your doctor and get a blood panel done. Just my opinion and avoid nut butters, pork rinds and anything crunchy, crispy (especially 'scratchy'!). Debbie 40 cd scd originally 12/05 I am on SCD for ~2 weeks now. I have also started feeling a bit dizzy in the mornings. I also feel I have higher heart rate. I am doing the intro diet with no juice. I have cooked spinach.Does it make sense that it could be hypoglycemia since I don't take any carbohydrates? Also, I feel lot more thirsty and I pee a lot.Thanks. Guest guest
Protonix is like Nexium or Prevacid. It's just better imho. Have you read the book Breaking the Vicious Cycle? Look at those recipes and start with those--nothing fancy like the breads or baked goods except maybe custard ;-). Then go on-line to pecanbread.com to the stages of food and see what looks good. Most do well with the stages even though it's a site for kids. They also have good easy recipes. I would stick with young, early vegetables and cook all fruit. Broil fish, eat whole cuts of meat instead of ground if you can--seems to be easier to digest. I was told this by Kim M. one of our moderators and she's right. They add a lot of extra 'something' to grind the meat and it bothers some people. Anything in season in the store or farmer's market right now, you could try that. Make sure you cook carrots long enough to be soft. Some like zucchini peeled and de-seeded and cooked soft, green beans that are french cut (split I guess?). I do better with baby limas or early, young green peas but not a lot at once. Some do well with the pumpkin pie--crustless. Experiment but slowly I guess. Why aren't you doing carbs? Do you eat yogurt or DCCC? Honey? All of that is great for you. I like yellow squash (like a fiend) but this time of year, you mostly find winter squash. Apples, baked soft--peeled would be great this time of year. Debbie 40 cd Debbie-I am afraid of adding new foods because I don't know what'll cause a reaction or not, I am afraid... Also everybody says " GO SLOW " !! I am trying to add new vegetables every 2 days with purely intro diet for a day between. I puree cooked spinach and carrots with yogurt. I am meeting my GI doc on Thu and going to ask for blood work.Yeah, I feel little more burpy, eyes burn a bit, feeling dizzy in the morning, and a bit increased heart rate. These are not really bothersome as yet but I am noticing them. Why Protonix and why do you say " protect stomach? " I don't know what's going on -- I don't want to tell the doc all these because he'll ask me to stop the diet and get on his clinical trial. Thanks,-Andy.> > >> >> >> >> > I am on SCD for ~2 weeks now. I have also started feeling a bit dizzy in > > the mornings. I also feel I have higher heart rate. Guest guest
Hi Andy, I thought of something else while I'm handing out all this advice to someone on the net ;-). It *seems* like people do better with the things they grew up eating--in my case that's a definite. I never ate a lot of winter squash, didn't like the winter greens or pumpkin very much but I do pretty well with summer fruit/veg. It seems like I've noticed that people who stick with whatever they are used to tend to do better with that rather than never hearing of something like an avocado (just an example) and trying to add those in early. So maybe that could also help you on the journey to finding the right food for you. I don't know, just an idea. Debbie 40 cd Protonix is like Nexium or Prevacid. It's just better imho.
