My intro....... after Re: ISNT THIS SUPPOSED TO BE A SUPPORT GROUP?

Hi it is Audrey again, a little calmer after my last couple digests,

they were more supportive : ) I am sorry about my outburst, but OMG

i just couldnt believe that ppl kept going on....and on....and well

you know.

Anyway........I am a 23 year old student (last semester of a Computer

science degree), a mother of a 2 year old boy, and married. I have

been looking into wls for a while now and thought I had decided on

the RNY, and was going to try and coax my surgeon into a distal.

Well I have read many wonderful stories about loss with RNY but was

scared about washing the food out with drinking with meals, and

losing the dumping after a while. (It was also doubtful that I could

talk my surgeon into a distal....he said I ONLY weigh 300...Im

thinking " yeah buddy you carry this around at 5'1 " and see if you

ever say only again!! " ....but i know he's just doing his job, and

worried about the health of patients in the long run)

So after reading up on the DS i found that the only DS surgeon within

states of the boondocks where I live (Iowa) is only 1.5 hours

away...closer than my original surgeon! It is at the University Of

Minnesota, Dr Buchwald. I am trying to get all the info I can to be

sure this is the right choice.

I guess my questions are:

1. Has anyone else had Dr Buchwald? How long till surgery with him

after the group consult? Did he do the surgery himself? Whats your

opinion of it overall?

2. Is everyone happy with their surgery/results? Good, bad, ugly,

let me have it!

I am sorry about this being so long, and any part you can answer is

wonderful! I look forward to getting to know all of you and hearing

what you have to say.
