I would just caution you to not make it look too much like jewelry--you

don't

want the paramedics to miss the fact that it's a medic alert! I got mine

from

Medic Alert (www.medicalert.org/)

Mine says:

Roux-En-Y

DO NOT BLINDLY

PLACE NGT

NO MORPHINE

NO NSAIDS

Of course, yours wouldn't have to say no morphine (I'm just highly

allergic).

Mine says: Gastric bypass; do not blindly place N/G tube, no NSAIDS (and a few

other medical things specific to me--like I'm allergic to penecillin.) There is

an ID # and a phone # - when someone calls the # and gives my ID, they will get

the names of my doctors, family, etc., etc. Well worth the $20/year, I think.

When I got mine, they didn't have the right option online for RNY, so I

called. The operator was VERY helpful, looked it up, and knew exactly

what to put. Mine says ROUX-EN-Y GASTRIC BYPASS. PLACE NG TUBE WITH

ENDOSCOPY. NO NSAIDS. It also has the MedicAlert phone number and my

record ID number.
