Good news SDC'ers my Doctor agreed to put me on LDN today! Also, I am VERY intrigued by LDN. Any thoughts. >> Thanks everyone. I have had improvements, but not the kind I was expecting. I've had headaches for twenty years and I've been to at least twenty doctors for them. Headaches are GONE! I was haveing very restless sleep with lots of night sweats. I would wake up soaked. Now I sleep like a rock. I was very impatient with my wife and kids. Last night I spent hours building a puzzle with my five year old girl. My wife says I seem calmer. I'll be patient with the D. > >=

CONGRATS!! Please keep us updated. You must be so excited! I am considering LDN (will be asking for it this Wed) and would be very interested to hear results as it relates to bowels. I hear that it can be amazing combined with SCD. I also have Hashi's and other immune issues but that's getting off topic, lol.

You're lucky to have one that will do it. I had to go out of town but I'm happy

with the results.

You will not believe how good LDN makes you feel. For me,

initially, my body went ‘whoopee! Endorphins!’ Of course, as usual,

everyone is different. I can personally state that for me, LDN is the best Crohn’s

drug I’ve ever taken (and I am the most cynical person you’ll ever

meet – cynical about pharmaceuticals & Big pHARMA and their ties to

our doctors).

The deep sleep I experienced in the first few weeks on LDN was

awesome. And I enjoyed the vivid dreaming.

I am in my 6th month on LDN, 3 mg cream from

CoastalCompounding.com, and it is stated that LDN may take 3-6 months to kick

in. So, I’m just humming along. LDN has done wonders for my (now non-existent)

depression. That alone makes it worthwhile to me. Plus, I have more energy. And

the dehydration issue I had is gone.

I see you noted that you receive B12 shots...Shouldn't your gut be healed enough

by all this time on diet that it would absorb the vitamins and nutrients better?

How long does LDN have to be taken is it a very long commitment?

Naltrexone has long lost it's patent and no drug company would make a profit

from it. Big pharma would have no interest in it and this is why there is no

funding for clinical trials for LDN, or diet for that matter.

We are the clinical trial :)

I do not know the answers to your excellent questions. I do know

that people with bowel disease do not produce what is called Intrinsic Factor,

a compound secreted by the stomach that helps with transporting &

absorption of B12. Whether the body starts producing Intrinsic Factor after

healing I do not know. I will have to research that and/or ask my doctor. For

now, I am dosing 1cc B12 serum once per month. In general, yes, my body is

absorbing nutrients now – I noticed that after 2 years on the SCD that my

hair, which used to grow in white, was and continues to grow in brown. I credit

this with increased absorption of nutrients, especially zinc.

As far as how long to take LDN, I do not know that either. If I

remember correctly, the children involved in the Penn State Clinical trials are

on LDN for 1-2 years. Don’t quote me on that, I could be mistaken. So, I

will have to research how long to take LDN. Sorry I could not be more

definitive.

B12 is absorbed in a certain part of the small intestine. If that particular part of the small intestine is damaged (or, as in my case, gone -- from surgery; I have Crohn's) no amount of taking B12 my mouth is going to make a difference. Thus the need for injections which shoot the B12 directly into the blood stream. So taking B12 shots is a life-long thing for somebody like me. For others, where the damaged small intestine may heal over time, it may not be.I see taking LDN not so much as taking a drug (though it is, of course), but like taking an additional supplement -- because it gets the body to regulate the immune system and has no bad side effects long-term (only -- for some people -- a few possible annoying side effects short term, like temporary sleepnlessness.n >-- Now available. I am six weeks on LDN (and 4.5 months on SCD), and even though so far

I am only up to 1.5mg of LDN, it's a noticeable improvement and help

even though supposedly I am not yet up to a therapeutic dose! They

are wrong about that. I think SCD and LDN is a terrific combination.

1. Do you know if LDN works for UC as well?

2. If the doc (GI or PCP) hasn't even heard of LDN, how do you convince them?

Print-outs of articles??

Hi

UC is one of the many diseases LDN is meant to work for. My 3 sisters and mum and dad are all on it for a range of auto-immune diseases. Fibromyalgia, celiac and Hashimotos. The doctors who are leaders in the field of LDN actually have there staff, family and friends all on LDN even if they are not sick. If you have trouble with your doctor and you are not on any heavy medication for the UC you can just buy it on the internet. Thats what my family does. The scd diet is the best diet for LDN to work properly.

Hi Sky,

It's great to know that your family has had such success with LDN.

I am very interested in obtaining some. what site do you buy it from? I was

under the impression that it required a prescription. If that's not the case,

I would be thrilled to hear it.

Thanks,

Hi

We use liquid LDN in my family. You get one 50mg tablet and put it in 50 mls of distilled water. Let it dissolve and it is ready to use. So 1ml=1mg. This is a cheapest way do it. It also means you can be very flexible with your dose. Which you need so you can start at 1.5mls. Now do not use river pharmarcy they are to expensive use All Day Chemist. You will find the link in the website below. Then click on generic you are looking for Naltrexone Hcl. One packet contains 10 tabs of 50mg tablets. One packet of ten tabs lasts for about 12 weeks if you are taking the maximum dose of 4.5mls.

Here in Australia I only order 1 pack at a time because I am scared customs will stop it. It costs about $us40.

Read all the information on the website below.

How To Obtain Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN)http://www.webspawn er.com/users/ howtoobtainldn/ index.html

On this website you can buy actual 4.5mg capsules of low dose naltrexone. This is a rip-off. You only get 30 days worth and it is more expensive than the option above. Plus the fillers are not the best.International Antiaging Systems Naltrexonehttp://www.antiagin g-systems. com/iasstore/ acatalog/ naltrexone. html

Drug companies are always tweaking old drugs to make new ones that are

profitable. It surprises me that none of them have taken LDN and added a little

something extra to make it a new drug.

I've always had normal B12 levels. Are all crohn's people supposed to lack

Intrinsic Factor, or just some?
