Create An Emergency Link for Member's Contact

I was thinking of the possibility of creating an emergency link for the

members. This way if anyone stop posting and we get concerned about

the person then we can go to the emergency link and try to contact them

to see if they are okay.

For example, if you have not heard from me in several weeks or months

then you can click on the link and it would give you my emergency

information. By contacting this information you can find out if I am

on the Space Shuttle or lost in cyber space.

Consider it. At least we would know more about Kuwati Kim if she had a

emergency contact link. :(!

Got me?

Hi Brother , I think that this is agreat idea and I think that we have tried to start this before. I don't have a link,to speak of, but if maybe we all gave our information to the moderator, that may help. Or we could all just e-mail it to you. My children try to keep the group informed, and if I have surgery coming up, I try to give the hospital a name that they can release information to them. Let me know what you do. Lynne" J. Talk is cheap. Use Yahoo! Messenger to make PC-to-Phone calls. Great rates starting at 1¢/min.

There is a database that is provided by Yahoo for people that wish

to add some of their information, such as a Yahoo/AIM/ICQ/MSN

messengers. And out of 430 members there are only 45 people listed..

The thought is great, but its " NEVER " a good idea to have your

personal information such as Address/phone numbers.

I wish there was a way we could contact Kim, as do most of us.. but

for now all we can do is wait and pray that she's ok, and that when

she can she will get back to us.

Just my thoughts,

I agree with b/c of safety issues. It was an idea with the best of intentions though from people who care. I will make sure that my family knows to let the group know if something is going on with me.Best to all,Becky wrote: There is a database that is provided by Yahoo for people that wish to add some of their information, such as a Yahoo/AIM/ICQ/MSN messengers. How low will we go? Check out Yahoo! Messenger’s low PC-to-Phone call rates.

Ron,

This is a good idea, and one of the ways we're doing it now is that in your Yahoo Profile, you can put your private phone #, or have someone else in the family able to get into your computer and the group with your email password and let us know what's going on.

Darlene is having her daughter keep in contact with me, via the NSMODS site. That way her daughter isn't getting the 1000+ group emails that come thru each month, sent to her cell phone, where she picks up the emails when she can't be at a computer. (Needless to say, if we inundated Carlena with emails the bill would be astronomical.)

One way to do this is with the Holiday Mailout List-- where we send our addresses to those who want them. You can include a phone # with that-- and it only goes out to those on the list. It's not sent via the group, we actually send it to each person's private address-- so we don't have our addresses and phone # posted and can be somewhat more assured that we won't be giving our private # to someone that wants to spam us.

Let's give this one some thought-- maybe you'll just want to give one or two people your number-- privately. And if a medical emergency comes up, then you can have someone contact that person-- and they can be your liason.

Thanks so much for the great idea!

Hugs,

Tracie
