Guest guest
I'm getting a little tired of chicken soup, so I was thinking of trying fish soup for something different. How would I go about making a fish 'bone broth'? I heard somewhere that you could/should use heads? Do any of you have any methods/recipes for making fish soup? Thanks!! Guest guest
Allyssa- Have you tried the beef bone broth? My local Teeter and Lowes' Foods carry cut up beef bones in the freezer section for about $2 a bag. On the first day, I put the bones in a crock pot with some garlic, onion, lemon juice and a few bay leaves and cook them for about a day. The next day, I take them out with a strainer (be careful to look for little bone pieces that may break off). Then I add some beef stew meat, or even a roast if they are on sale, carrots and celery and any spices I like, and cook for several hours until the meat is well done and soft. I take out the celery. Then I have a delicious stew, roast, and plenty of broth. I usually make a lot and freeze in portions. Guest guest
Do you get organic bones? There was some talk recently on the pecanbread board about regular bones having lead and other junk in them that leaches out into the broth.
