Joey has always has G.I. issues. He is on 40 mg of Prilosec twice a

day, which really seems to help him.

The last two weeks, if Joey drinks more than just a few sips of

liquids he spits some of it back up and then gets the hickups. The

painful hickups at that. It's not throwing up like before, yet a

large amount of spit up. My husband says that may be normal if he is

drinking too much. Yet some of the time it may be 4 swallows full.

He tends to not worry at all, yet I tend to worry too much. Does

this sound like a issue I should address to the G.I. doctor? They

really have been wanting to do a PH probe on him. Has anyone here

ever seen this with you little ones? Any help would be great!!!

Tamara,

Thanks for the insite on the Prilosec. Wow, Joey and Grace sound so much alike. I asked my question about reflux meds. because Grace is doing the same thing. She is unable to even tolerate the volume of her medications (through her g tube) all at once. We have noticed her not even being able to eat more than a couple of bites at one time. If she gets too much, she starts the hiccups and usually vomits. Gracies GI is considering it to just be the mito slowing down her system, making old problems bad again. The hiccups and vomiting are being associated to her reflux worsening, Dr. Cohen has agreed. For now, we are just treating her with the Prevacid and offering smaller snacks more frequently. I had to start mixing her Miralax into her drinks because the volume going through her tube was causing more problems than helping. Best wishes with your little one.
