Guest guest
Hi Darlene, I'm so sorry your consult did not go as well as you had hoped. I do know how LONG you have been waiting and looking forward to it! Who is " they " ? Did you not even get in to see Dr Aslam in person to ask these questions? That, to me, doesn't seem to be much of a consult. I think you have a right to get ALL of your questions answered from the doctor, himself; even as to why he made the decision not to continue doing a particular procedure. ESPECIALLY that they made you wait FOUR MONTHS to even step foot in their door for an appointment! I think you deserve some straight answers. As far as I know, the next nearest docs to Maine are in NYC. Either the Mt sinai docs (Gagner, Herron, Pomp and Inabnet), or NYU/Ren or Dr Macura in Staten Island. You might want to check your insurance " participating provider " list to see if any are listed. If you think you might go that route, you might want to book your NYC consultation appt *now* as you are well-aware there is sometimes a long wait. You can continue researching your options while you are waiting to get in. If it turns out you heard correctly, and Dr Aslam is NOT performing the BPD/DS, then his name needs to be removed from the www.duodenalswitch.com list of surgeons. This would help spare any future prospective DS patients some of the pain and disappointment you are experiencing. Once again, Darlene. I am so very sorry you have hit a road block. **HUGS!!** But, in my opinion, you should NOT GIVE UP and get the RNY if that is not what you want to live with for a *lifetime*!! Hang in there, kiddo. You will find a way. We are here to listen and help in any way we can. We will ALL get where we need to be with each others help. Please let us know what you find out.
