Hi, Well I dont know how all the stuff works with nervious bowels but I will

be truthful, having the DS surgery definitley will have you in the bathroom

more often then before the surgery. The more fat you eat in your diet the

more you will use the restroom. You will learn what things to eat that doesnt

keep you in the bathroom as much. What is good for one DSER could be

differant for another. You just have to find what works best for you. Like I

cant eat salad if I do i pay for it the next day. I am talking wanting to

drag the tolit behind you so i just dont eat it any more. I will try it again

a few months further down thr road, because I do lovesalad but it is not

worth the bathroom issue. If you have any more questions or if I can help in

any way pleas feel free to email me privatly. I had DS surgery Jan 5, and I

have lost 80 pounds!!!!!!! I would have this surgery again in a heart beat. I

am feeling so much better about myself which makes me happier and the people

around me happier so I think if you become happier with your life maybe you

will experience not so much anxiety and that will help with your nervios

bowels. Good luck . Oh I forgot one thing. I have had panic attacks for as

long as I can remember but since the surgery they have become less and less.

I dont have to take valium every day now it is about once a week if that. My

blood pressure is great so I am off that medication also. Well again please

feel free to email me. Take care.

I know this is true for most people, but hasn't been the case for me. I have

had something similar to IBS (or perhaps it is IBS, but I never let anyone do

any testing) for years. When I saw Dr. A for my first consult, I was having

bathroom trips about 6-7 times per day. Since surgery, I spend much LESS

time in the bathroom. I have almost no gas, and make bathroom trips 1-2

times every 2-3 days. I know this is unusual, and perhaps when I am eating

more it will change, but this is where it stands for me right now.

When I had my consult with Dr. A. I was very concerned that this would cause

me to be a bad candidate for surgery. He told me that it would either stay

the same or get better, but probably would not become worse.

That said, I have a friend with Crohn's disease, and she has been told

definitely NO about weight loss surgery.

My case is probably very unusual, and certainly should not be used as a basis

for any decisions, but I did want to point out that the above is not always

the case.

Hi Kim:

It is great to see you doing so well and isn't Dr. A just the greatest!! What a man! LOL

I just wanted to let you know that I too loved salad but I also could not eat it for quite awhile. You will be happy to hear that at 28-29 months post-op I can now eat 2 things I just could not eat before now one is rice! I love rice it is my favorite over potatoes anyday and now I can have it with teriyaki sauce over it and my personal favorite BBQ'ed pork fried rice and for the last 3 weeks I have found that I can eat salad! Yeah!!! Yummy cold crisp salad! So I have been enjoying salad greens with, cucumbers, radishes, mushrooms, green onions, jacima, beets and the popular protein filled and I might add at least for me shrimp! and for the moment topped off with Russian dressing with maybe a few tablespoons of a new dressing I have found called Litehouse Naturals Wild Huckleberry Vinaigrette and in case you are interested here is their website www.litehousefoods.com.

Anyway this is already to long I just wanted to tell you that you may be able to get back to enjoying salads. On the other hand I still cannot eat chicken except for a few wings now and then and I can't eat spaghetti, I can eat pasta such as shells, elbows, fettichini and lasagna but I have stopped trying to figure out why something's are fine and others are a trip to the bathroom I mean all the pastas have the same ingredients!

I also still eat small amounts of sugar but a few bite or a few pieces are my limits and then my tummy asks for protein.

Again big congrats on your weight loss and know that it will continue until you reach your goals.

Huggles,

Tiger
