anyone had aetna/ushc approve their ds?

hi there-

although my first consultation with dr. pomp isn't until august 7th,

i am trying to do as much homework as i can. i have checked the

aetna/ushc website and although they approve obesity surgery, they

claim that they don't cover ds. i was wondering if anyone on this

list has had this done and had them cover it. did you have to

appeal? what worked when dealing with them? any input in this

matter would help.

Well, THIS is depressing news. I have Aetna USHC and just yesterday I

called and made an appointment to consult with Dr. Pomp on August 14th.

I found the Aetna Online Coverage Policy Bulletin that allegedly justifies

the exclusion. There has to be a way around it. What if your primary care

doctor specifically says you need the DS?

Don't give up!!! There are many on here who have been approved by

Aetna for the DS. I myself am in the process of appealing their

denial. I'm not sure if I'll get approval or not, but I'm going to

give it my best shot. Don't take no for an answer. If they are

paying for it for some, they need to be paying for it for ALL!!!!
