Guest guest
G'morning, Joe and I both had flue shots last week with no reaction other than a slightly sore arm. Like most of you, Joe can't afford to get a respritory infection. We also had typhoid, polio, and hep.A & B prior to traveling. No adverse reactions to any of them. Hope this helps. Guest guest
Thanks Lou for that info. I will call the Medicare office in town tomorrow. I did try the temp mixture Tom's dentist prescribed but unfortunately, with his lack of tongue control and the fact that there is not a recess in the tooth where the filling came out, it was an impossibility. I'm still looking for a dental mobile service in our area. Sandy B.

Guest guest
Hi Terri, Thanks. But I was trying to ask anyone if they felt the flu shot virus brought on their attack of neurosarcoidosis. I was fine, never getting any flu shots ever and I had one and then I came down with NS symptoms right after getting the shot. I saw on the FSR website discussion that a few others said that they had problems too. Have a good weekend. Thanks again, KatSee what's new at AOL.com and Make AOL Your Homepage. Guest guest
Terri, I worked at the VA Hospital where patients did have sarcoidosis. In fact, my girlfriend also worked there and got it as well. Very interesting I think. KatSee what's new at AOL.com and Make AOL Your Homepage. Guest guest
Kat, Sorry, my pea pickin' brain just ain't what it used to be. A lot of people on this site worked in the medical field and we always wondered if that had anything to do with it? Who knows? Terri G. > > Hi Terri, > Thanks. Guest guest
Rose, I do research anything and everything, in fact, I have more than a literal file box full of info on sarc. I know where you're coming from but I still have to stand by what I said. Lately I react strongly to anything new to me. Tough that flu shot was probably more than 5 years ago I haven't gotten anything near a cold or flu. The 'gut feeling' for me was more like prayer and a feeling of peace about my decision. And since I'm the one who would pay the consequences for my decisions...I'm stickin' to it. Even if someone promised to take care of me if I reacted again...I still wouldn't take it. BUT the most important thing...either way...is to have your doc's opinion cuz there is a chance of getting some pretty big nasties in some cases. I researched sarcoidosis and flu shot and read of some nasty reactions that some people had. It's a matter of choice. Mine, for now, is no. jmo hugs S.Rose wrote: , I also tend to "trust my gut," but like "let your conscience be your guide," sometimes both your gut & your conscience can be wrong! It's so easy to assume that when one thing follows another, the first one caused the second one. But we know that it's often a random event, or a coincidence. A few years ago my daughter had a bad case of bronchitis, took one Ampicillin that she had, and within a day was feeling better. She was convinced that taking one small dose cured her, even though I told her that the bronchitis was probably viral. Anyway, my point is that it's often a good idea to really consider all the sides of an issue, such as the possible effects of taking a drug/flu shot/etc. versus the possible results of not taking it or doing something different. There are no guarantees with any course of action, so you need to try to see all the possibilities & how they would affect you, then choose the action that is best for you. But look at the science, not just what is called an anecdotal event (something that happened to you or someone else). Ask about vaccines--like Darlene said, the flu shot is made from a dead virus, while the flu spray is from a live virus. It's a huge difference. This is why, after decades of giving children the oral polio vaccine, the authorities have gone back to recommending the shots. Because the oral vaccine is made from a live virus, there were cases of children actually getting polio from the vaccine, although it was rare. But the shot is made from killed virus, so they cannot contract polio from it. Ramblin' RoseModerator A merry heart is good medicine.
