Guest guest
Hey everyone! Guess What?!?!?! I've been APPROVED!!! I'm still a bit numb with shock. Not sure what to do with myself at the moment. It is still sinking in. The determination letter for my appeal arrived today, dated 5/29/01. My insurance Medical Director did a " thorough examination of the pertinent information...[and] determined that the services proposed by Dr Pomp are appropriate " . What is a little strange is that I spoke with my insurance case manager today to verify that all the appeal information had been received and was in my file, including the supportive letter from the RNY doc. She looked on the computer and found that everything was there, someone even had scanned in the RNY doc's letter on 5/29. I asked when a determination might be made and she said within the next week or two but definitely before their deadline of 6/17. Then I asked if they call after a determination is made or do they just send a letter. She said they usually call *and* follow up with a letter. She never mentioned anything about the appeal being granted on the 29th! That was the same day I faxed the RNY doc's letter... I wonder if they even took that into account? OMG! WHAT am I hashing about?!?! WHO CARES??? I'm APPROVED and I have it in WRITING!!! So now I just have to talk with at Dr Pomp's office to get on their on-call list or see when they can schedule me a date!!! oooooh BABY this is really getting REAL!! Does everyone get so gloriously giddy when it becomes real for them?? I KNOW this is happening because so many of you sent prayers and positive thoughts, and swung chickens and children and basically gave SO MUCH support. I am extremely grateful to EACH AND EVERYONE OF YOU for just being here! NOW, to start figuring out how to tell my family, friends and people at work...
