Guest guest
i am considering ldn aloong with my scd--want to know everyones experiences--positive or negative. alsowhere else can i find peoples experience specificaaly regarding crohns and colits I started LDN about 6 weeks after I started SCD. I wanted to let SCD " settle down " first a bit. I have IBS/CFS/fibro/leaky gut/malabsorption/adrenal failure. Maybe I missed a couple. Because I usually do better with anything new if I sneak into it rather than starting with a lot, I started LDN at 1.0 mg. (Normal dosage is 3.0 or 4.5 for most people.) About 2 weeks ago I upped my dosage to 1.5 mg. In another couple of weeks I will go to 2.0 if all seems fine. OK, what has happened? They say with CFS (and MS) that starting out usually makes your regular symptoms kick up a bit more for awhile. I found this to be true. The much calmer gut got a little less so. Not back to pre-SCD days but not quite as good. I had the sleep disturbances the first week, exactly as predicted. I have more dreams but not as lurid as some do. I would say since the first week I actually am sleeping deeper and better, though still not 8 hours a night, sigh. I feel MUCH calmer and happier about everything; I think this must be the increased endorphins kicking in. Even when I have a bad day or night, I still feel calmer about it, more " Oh, OK, so it's not the greatest day but it will be better tomorrow " . This is very welcome! And I have a little more energy, both mental and physical. A few days ago I finally (after many many months) felt like getting back to my sewing and embroidery machines, again, very welcome as this is what I enjoy doing. I have not had any gut improvement yet, but I didn't expect it. This and less fibro pain supposedly take quite a lot longer. That's OK. Considering that I am still below what is supposed to be a therapeutic dose, I am quite pleased. I might also add that I am very sensitive to meds but I am not having any trouble with this one. Only expected results like the initial sleep disturbances.
Guest guest
I haven't been able to read or crochet since I first got ill in 2002. So are you saying after starting LDN, you took an interest in old hobbies again and you were able to do them? Guest guest
You can find notes on the experiences of 31 Crohn's/UC/IBS patients (as well as patients with other medical conditions) on the LDN Database: http://www.ldndatabase.com/ See list in left column for the link. Do you read the LDN forums? There are folks with Crohn's on several discussion lists. I hope you find healing with the SCD/LDN combination. Guest guest
I haven't been able to read or crochet since I first got ill in 2002. So are you saying after starting LDN, you took an interest in old hobbies again and you were able to do them? Thanks, Debbie 40 cd Yes, Debbie, that's exactly what I'm saying. Sewing, machine embroidery, quilting... are all a big part of my life normally. I have done some in the last few years but very little, has been very hard to collect the physical energy for it or make the brain work at all. I haven't enjoyed it. Suddenly about a week ago I felt like I was ready to get busy again. The first couple of days you'd have thought I never did any of this at all, as it took quite awhile to pull what I know back out of my brain. But it came. Now I'm having fun. Probably old hobbies from way before all this gut stuff started in 1982, like scuba or flying, no, I don't expect to go back to them. But then, my 69th birthday is this week (sigh, then I'm really pushing 70). In rereading my LDN note I see I mentioned no gut improvement yet. I should clarify this. I got quite a bit of improvement from SCD. But none I can peg to LDN or not yet. Perhaps in this area I won't be able to sort out improvements but that's OK. I don't know what all your situation is but I really would urge you to consider LDN. You haven't got much to lose and so many people gain so much. I might add that I had no idea of trying it but after I got on SCD and introduced myself, at least half a dozen people here wrote me and told me they thought my situation would benefit from LDN. And I am VERY grateful to you all! I can hardly wait to see how I improve once I'm on a full dose.
