Guest guest
Hi Becky, what's a cardiac defib dr? Do you have diabetes related to your illness? I ask because I was recently diagnosed. It is due to prednisone. I'm still having trouble figuring out my eating changes. Hope everything goes OK. How do they tell what causes what???? _wendy > > Heading to the cardiac defib dr...kind of nervous about this. This morning sugar dropped and made me think: my heartbeat sped up (b/c hypoglycemic) and if I had the defib already, would it " shock " me? That would be not so good unless is sarcoid related. It's a question I will ask when I see him. > Yikes, > Becky > > > --------------------------------- > How low will we go? Check out Yahoo! Guest guest
Hi ,He is an electrocardiophysiologist and all he does is put in pacemakers and defibrillators. I will be under general anesthetic when he does it...he will stimulate my heart to beat at 200 or greater to make sure the defib works ok...with cardiac sarcoid the fear is V-tach which can be deadly. I had a thallium cardiac stress test in 2005 that showed a patchy uptake at rest and during exercise (this is indicative of infiltrates of inflammation)...that is clinically significant for cardiac sarcoid...plus I wore a 30 day event monitor that showed atrial fib along with other abnormal beats in April 2006 (these happened while I was decreasing my prednisone)....so all this pointed to cardiac sarcoid. I wasn't diabetic until after steroids. Have been on pred over 2 yrs and while they have saved my life they have taken a huge toll b/c of nasty side effects. Take care,Beckyzebe wendy_cidp wrote: Hi Becky, what's a cardiac defib dr? Do you have diabetes related to your illness? I ask because I was recently diagnosed. It is due to prednisone.
