I've been getting weekly labs done to watch my blood counts since I was hospitalized for the blood tranfusions and potassium the end of May. My HMG was up to 14.2 and now it's down to 11 again. My red count and HCT are dropping and my RDW is high. I don't know what to make of these readings. My mito doc. will be back tom. so I'm going to call. Alot of things going on now with very low BP and near fainting upon standing. I may be going back to CCF for an admission. Please pray for me and if you have any insight into the blood levels please let me know.

Praying for ALL the sick kiddo's and families today.

Dawn,

All my Chem labs are great. My sodium is even the higher end of norm. My BUN is too LOW. Ever heard of that?! I'm very well hydrated. I can't handle excess fluids as I retain so easily.

I'm needing to go to Cleveland for an osteo treatment infusion that is known to have pretty bad side effects afterwards as well as address the autonomic symptoms and GI probs. There's just alot going on with me right now.

Thanks for your suggestions.

p.s. Cortisol was norm too so it's not my adrenal glands causing the low BP like my PCP wanted to think.

I am hoping you hear from cohen soon. Here is a web site that may

help alittle. It is not uncommon to have some anemia in mito. It is

also not umcommon to have low BP. I have this. There is not alot

they do for it other than force fluids, and increase salt intake. I

hope that you don't have to be admitted. Can you get an order for

some home iV fluids and see if that works? Maybe some d10 running

for a day or two may help boost up your fluids and sugar and could

make you feel a little better???? Have they checked your kidney

function? If you are having a kidney problem, it could cause the

anemia and possibly the bp issues. Just a thought. Let us know.

I am sorry to hear of your recent problems. Have they suggested that you are now anemic? I have been anemic my whole life, and have many of the problems you have mentioned. I also have a very low BP and also get the fainting spells. My OB suggested that the fainting is from a body stress (I am 7 months pregnant) that can cause the BP to drop even lower, causing the fainting. She said there is nothing they really can do about it, but sometimes drinking alot of water may help. Lately my blood levels have been very good, so I do not know if there is a relation to the BP and blood levels or not.

FWIW, I had a blood transfusion in 2002, and it took a long time for my body to get back to normal.

Best wishes, hope you feel better soon.

Thanks ,

Our little boy is due Sept. 20th, but they are going to induce me earlier (around labor day.)

Oh another tip. Have you tried iron supplements to bring up the hemoglobin? I usually end up on a huge dose when I am low, but it does work. Only problem is that it can cause major constipation. Best wishes.

We are very excited, but still a little worried, about the new baby. I am now enjoying the fun of shopping for blue everything. Yuck, sorry to hear that you can't do the iron. I guess you will just have to eat steak everyday or something, lol.

Best wishes,
