Guest guest
Hi I am a 32 year old female with a possible mitochondria disease. I want to first start by giving a little history about myself. Last year I began having a lot of neurological symptoms such as weakness, fatigue, blurred vision, double vision, numbness, balance problems and went to a neuro who took a lot of test, MRIs, CTs, bloodwork by the gallons, I was in the hospital for 2 weeks in Boston. They mentioned Mitochondrial diseases but my neuro never really followed through. So now I have shortness of breath, swallowing difficulties, coughing because I can't catch my breath. I am also aspirating on liquids. So anyway went to a new neurologist who was great and discussed the mitochondria possibility. I have to have a muscle biopsy and a EEG because I have severe memory and cognitive thinking problems. Sorry this is long, I just want to give my history. I have looked at the symptoms of mitochondria diseases and unfortunately It fits. I am really scared as I have two small children at home and a wonderful husband. Can someone explain what happens with these disease, I know I am probably jumping the gun but what other possibility can it be, I have went through a lot and whatever this is is progressing. I didn't see where there were any treatments, medicines to take etc. I guess I am wondering what will happen if I have a mito disease. Thanks, sorry so long
