Besides the pepsin, are we limited to only Betaine HCl, or is Glutamic HCl okay?

Thorne has their Bio-Gest product that has the Glutamic, but I've noted that

this is derived from grain. Does that make it illegal, or is it one of those

" need to try " type things to determine if I react?
