We are having the same type things right now where 's heart rate races sometimes over 200 then back down to the 100-130's then finally to the normal range. He has mild dilated cardiomyopathy but no history of arithmia. We even have it when he is sitting in class doing absolutely nothing.

So far, we have had the event monitor on for a month and the cardiologist sees no sign of arythmia. They are begining to feel it is part of his autonomic nervous system issues.

I am glad I saw your post.

Joey has recently had a 24 hour halter heart monitor done. results

came back today. Average is 95, low is 53 and they said there was a

time when he was running that it got to 197. First of all he was not

running. He can, yet falls within a few steps. I know he was not

running. I do know at that time he was walking up a little hill

outside. And then told me his heart was going fast. The doctor knows

nothing about Mito, should we be concerned? He does have a Heart

Arrythmia. Has any of you experience this before? How concerned

should we be? Any help would be great. It makes me really wonder

what his heart rate would be if was running. Crazy!!!!

Thank you!!!!

Grace typically has a very high pulse, due to dystautonmia. Her average is about 85 resting but we have seen it way above 220 when she is crying. Due to her carnitine deficiency, and irregular BP's and heart rates, we take her for an echo yearly. She has yet to have anything show up abnormal. The doctors do not seem too concerned, but she is well known to turn many heads during admissions and operations until they double look in her chart to see this is "normal" for her.

Best Wishes.
