I was just wondering after reading people's posts on other lists how the DS is affected by alcohol. I would assume its not a good idea to drink alot...but I do once in awhile like a cooler or two or a beer...maybe even a hard alcohol drink like at Xmas. I rarely drink more than two ever, but wondered if anyone has had anything extremely bad happen or knows what is advised.

Thanks

I have found out that for some strange reason..I am able to drink only mixed drinks..I can not drink beer at all and as for wine..it must be of quality...when I drink now...it seems that after a few I am feeling very well...and then it seems to be OK...but it hits me hard the next day..not sure why...before surgery I drank beer and did not have any problems what so ever..now I end up with a stomach ache..not worth it for me. hope that helps..

Thanks...maybe I'll find something else to sip...LOL I hate feeling under the weather after a drink...to many reminders of my early 20's ...LOL

Hi AJ:

I have a glass of wine 2-3 times a week in the evening and I have had a cocktail, (scotch and soda) when I am out to dinner but I am 29 months post-op and I did not drink until I was 2 years post-op just to sure I did not stress my liver. But there is no problems now.

Hi Amy,

Dr. Heap never said anything to me about not drinking alcohol. I

have had beer (just one) on a couple of occasions and have not had a

problem with it. I waited until I was about 6 weeks post-op before I

had one.
