and all other Newbies and Quasi-Newbies,I wish I could have convinced my husband to try something like that. I think it is awesome that you are taking your health into your hands and doing your best to make it better. You are 'owning' it (the process to health) and as I am sure most others here know, that is the only way to do it.AmeliaHusband UC 9 years, SCD 17 monthsto start LDN on Thursday!

I did a bit of a liquid diet the weekend before last in an attempt to control a

flare. It worked quite well. It wasn't any liquid though, it was all diluted

juice. Mainly I was having a combo of cabbage and strawberry juice (which

doesn't sound good but actually is!) or some kind of cabbage & other veggie

combo (cuke, ginger, sage, thyme, red pepper...etc) I think that it actually

helped me heal a lot faster. Based on what I've been reading about cabbage

juice and UC/CD, it may be something that I add into my diet on a more permanent

basis. Good luck to you! I hope that the liquid diet helps!

liquefy carrots, green beans, chicken, meat loaf (separately), by grinding it in

the mixer. I add broth and water to help liquefying it. I also eat white cheese

+ yogurt, cooked peeled apples.  I supplement it with a multivitamin.

products, but none of them are SCD legal.

I frequently go to using clear liquids since I developed my upper GI dysfunctions. In the bad days before I started SCD I was on clear liquids for weeks at a time. Since being on SCD I have needed to go on clear liquids for only a few days at a time to calm down my digestion, and the longer I've been on SCD, the less often I get symptom flares.

I can't say whether a liquid diet will help with fissures, but liquids are easier for our digestions to handle than solids. The trick is to get enough nutrition for energy and healing.

Clear liquids are things like: broth, gelatin, weak tea, diluted apple juice, fruit ices (you'll have to make your own). If you are just going with liquids, then you can expand the list to include a variety of diluted juices (fruit and vegetable), smoothies, purees of meat and veggies, and soups that have the contents pureed.

Make sure you take a multivitamin and B-complex regularly.

You'll have to do some experimenting to determine which foods are best tolerated by your body, even in a liquid state.

Of course I'd also check in with your doctor and make sure of what you're dealing with.

I just want to thank everyone for your suggestions. I checked with my doctor and

I have a fissure and a hemorrhoid, so I don't even know if a liquid diet really

would help. But I will keep these things in mind if I ever flare. Thanks again!!

:)
