Guest guest
Hi Lola, it is already June and you are hoping for surgery in August. Mhm, I thinkt that there might not be enough time for your consultation, pre op testing, insurance approval and scheduling of the surgery. Don't try to rush it, dear. This surgery is excellent but with it it brings changes. You need to prepare yourself for these changes mentally. You need to talk to lots of people about their experiences. Talk about all the pros and some of the cons (yes, there are some, as you already know). I can only speak for myself. I had my surgery with Dr. Herron, an excellent surgeon who was assisted by Dr. Pomp. This surgery is always performed by 2 surgeons. I have not met Dr. Pomp personally but Dr. Herron assured me what an excellent surgeon he is. I am sure there are other people on this list who've had their surgery with him. Believe me, Dr. Gagner is not the only great surgeon. I have also heard of Dr. Ren who is at the other NY hospital, good grief, I can't remember right now the name of it. There was a TV show not too long ago on MSNBC and most of it was with and about her. She used to be at Mt. Sinai. So, that's another possibility. Depending on where you live, there is another thing to consider: will your insurance cover out of state? Pls. feel free to contact me with any additional questions,I'll always answer. christadi@... Guest guest
Lola, I am pre-op (6/26) with Dr. Ren at NYU. She trained under Gagner at Mt. Sinai. I called her March 20, got a consult with her for March 27, and as you can see, scheduled surgery for 6/26 (and this was because it was the earliest date I was free). For further information on her and the procedure try the NYU website: thinforlife@... Marcia > >
